Historia
On a ski vacation in the Swiss Alps high above St. Moritz, Alex Hawke and his young son, Alexei, are thrust into danger when the tram carrying them to the top of the mountain bursts into flame, separating the two. Before he can reach Alexei, the boy is snatched from the burning cable car by unknown assailants in a helicopter. Meanwhile, high above the skies of France, Vladimir Putin is aboard his presidential jet after escaping a bloodless coup in the Kremlin. When two flight attendants collapse and slip into unconsciousness, the Russian leader realizes the danger isn’t over.

Ted Bell keeps getting better!

Overkill is too over the top
Revisado: 05-12-18
I've always enjoyed Bell's books (I read to escape, so Oprah's book club picks are not high on my list) but this time I constantly found myself wondering if his editor was on vacation when he worked on the book. I kept getting distracted by the timeline discontinuity, logistics impossibilities, and downright incorrect facts: the annual Army-Navy game is NOT played on Thanksgiving, how did an Irish/English special forces soldier receive the Congressional Medal of Honor, Hemingway did not write part of The Old Man and the Sea in Bermuda (he never even visited the island). I can suspend my disbelief only so far; but... If Stokely was a Seal in Vietnam he would be about 65 now (if he was 20 at the end of the war in 1973.) And don't get me started about the story he told about his beloved father....
I'm not sure I'll be reading another Hawk book if he continues the series.

Historia
Reiko, empress of Japan, has allied herself with Princess Órlaith, heir to the High Kingdom of Montival, to find the Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi, the Grass-Cutting Sword, a legendary treasure of an ancient dynasty that confers valor and victory to its bearer. Órlaith understands all too well the power it signifies. Her own inherited blade, the Sword of the Lady, was both a burden and a danger to her father, Rudi Mackenzie, as it failed to save the king from being assassinated.

problems with sound quality
Revisado: 10-10-15
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
My only problem with this book is with the sound quality. While the narrator, Todd McLaren is excellent, when he speaks in the character's interior voices he whispers & it is difficult to hear, especially when listening in the car. I found myself constantly adjusting the volume when he switched between the modes of voice.
