Good but completely unoriginal

Although I very much agree with the vast majority of the contents of this book, I have heard the content explained in much better and detailed ways in other books. The author even states a couple of times how his information is not original. If the author had not included a very brief bio at the end where he said he was involved in multiple businesses, I would have assumed that he had simply read a bunch of business books and thrown all of their recommendations into one place and resold it for himself. If this is your first business book, it is still worth listening to. If you've listened to a dozen business books, then nothing will be new here. I blasted through it pretty quickly is a nice review of topics from other books.

The author does a very good job at establishing a very clear framework that is easily implemented. I know this first sentence sounded like a gimmick, but the author does an incredibly good job and making very clear how to take concrete actionable steps. have listened to a few dozen business books at this point, and many of them talk on a simple single subject ad nauseam, or provide a recommendation that is hard to follow. this author takes a lot of great concepts and distills them into something that you can use very quickly. I 100% will be using many strategies from this book in updating my website.

Good but much more about meditation than Buddhism

It was my impression that general Buddhist concepts would be covered in more detail, and this was stated by the author. The book provides good support for a meditative practice, but does not go into other Buddhist practices at all. This could be my incorrect expectations

A great book

I first learned of Beth Kempton from the book Wabi Sabi. [Meant to be read in a non-dramatic fashion:] That book literally changed my life. Her words there and here are considerate, wise without pretention, and most importantly for me, directly applicable to daily life. If you're deliberating on getting this book, just get it. The intro blerb that audible allows as a preview doesn't do it justice.

The author clearly used AI software to both write and narrate this book. The summary of this book can be stated as "ChatGPT can do [x, y, and z]" and then never goes into how. No examples of practical application or case studies. This book is a compilation of lists.

unique twist on great principles that are rarely implemented well

The author teaches concepts in an easy to remember way, and all of the advice is very sound.The concepts are, however, not necessarily original, so if you've read business books that talk about the Pareto distribution (aka 80:20 rule) and how to use it, then this won't be as awe-inspiring. However, however, the examples of how to implement the plan are great for generating ideas.

TL;DR - I really like this book, and if you haven't read many books about business yet, it may be the best one to start with.

machismo and didn't really talk about the title

Loved the book title and was hoping to get some insight on how to plan and make the next five moves (something implying how to be strategic in a successful business), but never got anything like it.

I thought it was interesting enough but had a hard time trying to ignore the random insertions of bravado and ego.

This convinced me to do things differently

A ton of great and applicable concepts presented in a fun way. I took notes so I could make presentations better and plan to re-listen to get things to soak in more. I honestly wasn't sold on the idea of storytelling before but now see how it really can set one apart.

Very good but could be improved upon

The military stories are very engaging and lead clearly to the message for the chapter. I was a little surprised/confused by the message of the final chapter, which was that all leadership characteristics involve a middle road. This makes perfect sense, but they said it even applies to extreme ownership. That one sentence seemed to go counter to the entire rest of the book. The tone also shifted drastically in the last chapter when it turned into an advertisement for their next book. I would have been much happier with the whole thing if that final chapter wasn't included. Also there was no summary at the end. instead of ending a chapter, the whole book was over abruptly. Good read but the end left a bit to desire.
