Riveted

I was totally riveted listening to this book. I laughed at the chandler jokes and got a lump in my throat several times at the agony I recognize Mathew going through. It was a real and moving account of his life. I loved FRIENDS and I’ve seen every episode several times but never noticed “chandler” stumbling due to Mathew’s life. Read this book. You won’t be sorry

Like the series but...

I think this is book #5 and Melanie just gets dumber. She’s quit annoying now. You can be OCD, like to label things and not be stupid also as she seems to be. That being said, I’ve come this far so I’ll read the last one in the series.

Stupid cliffhanger without another book to follow.

So you read this book, get to the end, which has one of those cliff hanging sentences that have you yelling “what?” You go to get the next book because after all, this one is listed as “book 1”. Well guess what. There isn’t one. You’re just left with an unfinished book.

Terrible narration

Jeremy York talks so slow and like there is a ghoooost coming! I listened to him before and thought I would give him another chance. Nope. Can’t take it. Had to shut it off. Ava is better but not enough to offset him.

Loved the previous books in this series but this one fell short. I cringed every time they said Sebastian’s shortened name. In previous books it was Bass as in Se BASS tion! Not this time. Also it was about the younger brother Austin but it seemed since the last book he was a kid now we’re supposed to think he’s grown and it was a stretch. It was just depressing. He kept doing stupid things for a grown up and she still acted like a kid also and everything is a secret. I agree with the previous posts. The beautiful boy was way too much and I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone bite their lower lip as many times as they did in this book without it falling off!

Would you be willing to try another one of Jonathan Marosz’s performances?

Not if I don't have to! He is terrible. I couldn't figure out quite what he was doing besides reading in a sort of monotone, but another reviewer got it right in that he ended the sentences wrong. The world could have been ending with everyone bleeding to death and he said it like he would say he's going to the store to buy some bread!

Was The Cabinet of Curiosities worth the listening time?

Yes. It's a great story that over rode the narration. Love Pendergast and will read the rest of the series since there is a different narrator for the rest.

First 3 wonderful, this one not as good

The first 3 in this series was fantastic. Davina Porter was the reader. She spoke with a Scottish accent and had different voices for the characters. This has a different reader who doesn't use as many different voices. You sometimes don't know who is talking. The main thing I didn't like was that from this book on the series is abbridged. You go from 30+ hours to 8. You realize how much you are missing when all of a sudden you are skipped ahead and feel like things are left out!
