Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

I Just finished reading the innocent man by John Grisham. It’s also been made into a limited series on Netflix I think. You really ought to read it or watch it. Everyone needs to know what it has to teach.

Great book
Revisado: 09-16-23
People complain about King’s subjects Trump and Covid. Don’t they remember that those subjects were on everybody’s minds and tongues every minute during the months and years Holly is doing her work? To ignore those things would have negated so much truth…even in fiction!
After I got past my expectations for Holly’s voice I felt nothing but relief. The past narrator was good but made Holly’s speech so tiresome. I just wish she’d pronounced poems po ems rather than pomes.

Historia
In 1971, 19 citizens of Excelsior, a farming community in South Africa’s rural Free States, were charged with breaking apartheid’s Immorality Act, which forbade sexual relations between blacks and whites on the pretext of avoiding miscegenation. The women were jailed as they awaited trial and their white counterparts were released on bail. In the end, the state withdrew the charges, but the accused women’s lives, already complicated, became harder than ever.

Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

This book has been an amazing experience. Unlike some, I truly enjoyed this narrator. She did an excellent job of narrating for the many characters in the story. (No, I am not related, nor do I know her!). I plan to read other books by this author now!
