Historia
Niko West is the most beautiful man I’ve ever laid eyes on: six feet, four inches of broody, chiseled Greek god in a firefighter suit. He’s also been my best friend since kindergarten. He always says the only solid thing in his life is our friendship. He’s Honey Mountain's favorite player and I’m what you’d call "a relationship girl". But when I find myself single for the first time since turning sixteen, I make Niko an offer he can’t refuse. Who better to show me what I’ve been missing?

I couldn't finish it
Revisado: 05-13-24
Way too cheesy and unrealistic. I can count on one hand the number of times I haven't been able to finish a book but I couldn't do it with this one. Hopefully you'll like it better. I do think some of it is personal preference.

Historia
Since the death of her mother, Abigail Blakeslee has lost any desire to become a debutante and enter Society. But now, foregoing her first Season has brought an unwanted invitation to join her aunt and cousins for a summer at Timpton House, the large estate of the Stanton family. Reluctantly accepting, Abigail is thrust into the vexing world of social propriety and matchmaking she had hoped to avoid. More vexing still is her cousin’s suitor, the young Timpton heir - Edwin Stanton. Moody and distant at times, remarkably endearing at others, Edwin seems a puzzle she can never solve.

Couldn't make it past chapter 5.
Revisado: 03-21-23
I have read two other books by this author and enjoyed them. Not this one though. The main character is incredibly inconsistent and petulant. One minute she's so paralyzed by social anxiety and shyness that she hesitates entering a room of strangers. The next moment she's saying really prideful, insulting things to a man she just met. One minute she holds her tongue out of respect for father and the next minute she's back to telling off the main male character. Maybe if her comments were more disguised as playful (like Lizzy dealt with Darcy in Pride & Prejudice) and not unfiltered condemnation, Abigail might have been more likeable. She just seems like a hot tempered girl with zero control over her emotions. it comes across as very immature and even unrealistic for a lady of her standing in that time. it's a pass from me.

Historia
When it comes to relationships, 34-year-old Kate Turner is ready to say "Bah, humbug". The sleepy town of Blexford, England, isn't exactly brimming with prospects, and anyway, Kate's found fulfillment in her career as a designer and in her delicious side job baking for her old friend Matt's neighborhood café. But then her best friend signs her up for a dating agency that promises to help singles find love before the holidays. Twenty-three days until Christmas. Twelve dates with 12 different men. The odds must finally be in her favor...right?

Not just a another cheesy Christmas romance
Revisado: 01-07-23
I really enjoyed this book. At times the prose was quite beautiful. Even though it checked all the boxes (Christmas time, charming and small hometown, lost childhood sweetheart etc) it did it in its own unique way that actually made the journey much more enjoyable. I was actually charmed by the small town instead of just tolerating it as a cheesy stereotype. I loved the narration as well.

Over all I enjoyed it
Revisado: 03-09-22
I really enjoyed the beginning of this book but I felt like the grief Maile should've been experiencing for her late fiance was over so quickly and way less of a conflict than it would have realistically been.
Other than that I really liked this book.

Historia
The story delicately balances the concerns of the Mellstock parish choir with a romance between Dick Dewy, a member of the choir, and Fancy Day, the village schoolmistress. While the choir battles for its survival against the new vicar's mechanical church organ, personal conflicts arise over the anachronistic customs of tradition.

I didn't love the main characters
Revisado: 09-16-21
I felt like Dick and Fanny were both unlikable characters. Fanny was silly and shallow and in the beginning I felt like Dick did some disrespectful things. For example, in one scene he accidentally placed his hand on Fanny's at a dinner party when they barely knew each other and then left it there, which put Fanny in a very awkward situation with the public setting. It felt like he was using the setting to take advantage of her. Other than than my bleh feelings about these two, the book was entertaining enough.
