Very Slow Burn. It’s ok.

I don’t know that I disliked it. I just know I didn’t love it. This gave filler episode. You know how you watch Real Housewives and they have filler episodes of the ladies everyday life until the big drama happens, that’s what this book gives. Great historical depictions though. Maybe that’s why I won’t throw it away. Because even though it took me a lot longer to get through this book than it typically takes me I still pushed through. It was nice to see the characters again. I missed them a lot. I want happiness for my Viking King Gallowglass soooo damn bad. That’s a good man Savannah!

I am assuming the book after this is going to be worth this filler episode. I’ll say a little prayer before I dive into it. Because baby… Ms. Harkness need to BRING IT with this next book.

Wish I Were Still A Teenager

I am so disappointed. The was the first erotica story I had ever read. It was the first book that made me want to study Psychology. So now that I’m an adult and I know about DID/MPD I’m disappointed in the lack of accuracy and the overall writing. I just remember it being a better book when I was a teenager.

Spicy but… a bit Rapey

I want to say I love this story, It was spicy like I like it. But the rapey behaviors for Giovanni as the male protagonist was a bit much for me. It was bad enough the girl went through rape in the past so to listen to Giovanni behave in a similar manner with Emily (I think that’s her name) was off putting for me. But it has good romance story bones, just a tab bit darker than I like my spicy romance.

The Female Narrator 🙉

I like the Men of Whiskey Row. But when I tell you the Female narrator made me want to throw my phone everytime she started speaking. I can’t stand it. I got over it with Noelle & Jack’s story but I just couldn’t stand it with this one. I won’t be listening to anymore of the books if she is narrating. Her terrible accents and over acting was driving me mad!!! People don’t speak like that naturally! But what really drove me crazy was her African accent that she did for the Russian character in the book. I wanted it to stop and could not truly enjoy the story. She was awful. I will stick to reading D. A. Young’s stories as long as this particular voice actress is narrating.

Dirty but good.

So... this is a classic case of I would never condone this in real life but this is hot to read in a book. It is dirty, it is wild, it is highly inappropriate and unrealistic but it is Damn good and sexy to listen too. I found myself conflicted when listening to it. On one hand I don’t agree with relationships like this. But on the other hand I truly enjoyed myself while listening to the stories of these two couples. It’s definitely worth a listen.

SNOOZE-FEST

I couldn't finish it. I got half way through and just stopped. It is so boring. I was waiting for it to speed up and be as great as everyone claimed but it was bad. I had a hard time following the story sometimes and the overall nature of the characters and their culture was terrible for me. I didn't like this book at all.
