This author makes me feel stupid.
Revisado: 05-17-23
If things keep in this direction, I fear I won't be able to follow the next book in the series. Why not tell the story from end to beginning? Wait, that's not what they're doing. Maybe I should just sit back and take it in however it is presented.

Historia

Caught in one feud too many, he's on the verge of becoming a dead barbarian - leaving nothing behind him but bad songs, dead friends, and a lot of happy enemies. Nobleman, dashing officer, and paragon of selfishness, Captain Jezal dan Luthar has nothing more dangerous in mind than fleecing his friends at cards and dreaming of glory in the fencing circle. But war is brewing, and on the battlefields of the frozen North they fight by altogether bloodier rules.

The Author of our Time
Revisado: 03-22-22
Came fresh off fifth GOT book years ago.
That said, this is not comparable other than they both take place in fantasy worlds.
Clear, sharp, somehow simply perfect. Makes it look easy. This proves the best aren't always made into TV shows. I'm rather glad it hasn't been cheapened in that way. Abercrombie proves there are no excuses for making readers wait until Christ returns for a book. This is the author people should be talking about.

For an author who has a knack for showing off extensive research in his small details about things he should know nothing about, Stephen King cannot help but show, as much as he has held back in this outing, his fanatical whoopy Goldberg political views. As a second generation King reader, these things are overlooked and ignored but man does it feel like a let down. King is human it turns out and King eats up the CNN like cotton candy at his favorite demonic barnum and bailey's circus. Every bad guy is a republican and a racist. No gray areas in which we all live. Black and white, good and bad, good guys vote democrat and bad, racist, kiddie ticklers are for Trump. Another thing, this guy is unwilling to kill a woman bc he's afraid it will make his good guy look like he has an ounce of common sense. A lot of old fashioned bs. If a woman is going to kill you and you kill bad people, you kill bad women too. Completely unbelievable. These are things we continue to put up with bc we're praying the next book will be like the first King story our fathers told us about. Here's to hoping. Even Trump fans can dream. When we're not burning crosses or just doing evil deeds in general.

Entertaining throughout. I can see Brom becoming truly great with time. In a world where “the best” tend to be overrated, it is great to see an author with some imagination.

I wondered throughout why so much was left to the readers imagination (even for a book). I now see it is a story for younger readers. I don’t feel I wasted a credit but it’s no Harry Potter.

Historia
A natural storyteller and raconteur in his own right - just listen to Paddle Your Own Canoe and Gumption - actor, comedian, carpenter, and all-around manly man Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation) brings his distinctive baritone and a fine-tuned comic versatility to Twain's writing. In a knockout performance, he doesn't so much as read Twain's words as he does rejoice in them, delighting in the hijinks of Tom - whom he lovingly refers to as a "great scam artist" and "true American hero".
