The narrator was the best I have herd. The charicters were lifelike and every one of them was distinct.

Historia
The drama of the life of the second president of the United States has been stirringly chronicled both in print and on television. Yet, the life of John Adams is so rich in history, emotion, power, and tragedy that no medium can entirely contain its essence. Hearing the story of his life is to be introduced to a nation, new and untried, that would rise to prominence in no small part due to his legacy of leadership.

I am 75. Have not had any clear history for almost 60 years. The book served as an excellent foundation without attempting to advance any particular conclusion. easy listening.

Historia
Conservationist Rachel Carson spent over six years documenting the effects on DDT, a synthetic organic compound used as an insecticide, on numerous communities. Her analysis revealed that such powerful, persistent chemical pesticides have been used without a full understanding of the extent of their potential harm to the whole biota, including the damage they've caused to wildlife, birds, bees, agricultural animals, domestic pets, and even humans. An instant best seller that was read by President Kennedy during the summer of 1962, this classic remains one of the best introductions to the complicated and controversial subject.

A wonderful heads up for life.

Having lived thru a number of the events of witch she speakes in ignorance of their effects, I am now mindful of my actions. I am not ruled by fear and fearmongers. Conscious that the earth is covered with ONE biomass, I do not act on my small bit thoughtlessly.

Historia
In this stunning first novel, Belacqua - a young version of Molloy, whose love is divided between two women, Smeraldina-Rima and Alba - "wrestles with his lusts and learning across vocabularies and continents, before a final 'relapse into Dublin'" ( New Yorker). Youthfully exuberant and visibly influenced by Joyce, Dream of Fair to Middling Women is a work of extraordinary virtuosity. Beckett delights in the wordplay and sheer joy of language that mark his later work.

Last Becket I've read but most enjoyable
Revisado: 02-13-19
due to my limited intellect I only understood a small portion of the book. this is a wonderful excuse to re-listen to this story witch I can only describe as epic POETRY. Maybe after a few more reads I may decide to listen with a dictionary and Berlitz translator at hand to make it even more enjoyable, but the vacation from the endless clap-trap noise of most literature was Wonderful.

Historia
Swann's Way is Marcel Proust's literary masterpiece and the first part of the multivolume audiobook Remembrance of Things Past. In the opening volume, the narrator travels back in time to recall his childhood and to introduce the listener to Charles Swann, a wealthy friend of the family and celebrity in the Parisian social scene. He again travels back, this time to the youth of Charles Swann in the French town of Combray, to tell the story of the love affair that took place before his own birth.

takes us to the same point as Becket but on a longer cerquitious rout and with the impression that there may have been some other destination.

Historia
A groundbreaking work of science fiction, The Left Hand of Darkness tells the story of a lone human emissary to Winter, an alien world whose inhabitants can change their gender. His goal is to facilitate Winter's inclusion in a growing intergalactic civilization. But to do so he must bridge the gulf between his own views and those of the completely dissimilar culture that he encounters. Embracing the aspects of psychology, society, and human emotion on an alien world, The Left Hand of Darkness stands as a landmark achievement.

The preface caused me to listen to this book
Revisado: 08-05-18
The authoe's the nature of sify and human nature promised everything but the story delivered nothing. the moral had small bits and pieces. the central theme moral was obvious almost from the beginning and may have been exotic 100 years ago. the society was paper thin. you could say the book was on a par with my spelling. You could say the performance was excellent considering there was nothing to work witth.
