Plot holes abound
Revisado: 11-18-20
The quality of the writing is good and some of the characters are great. But the world building and the logic of the world are terrible. Everyone is terrified of magic but tons of people use magic so basically everyone is a whiny scared pathetic hypocrite. It’s like the author started writing one story then switched it half way into a different story and it happens so fast it gives you whiplash, the personalities of most of the side characters switch on a dime in the most unrealistic way and it’s just brushed off like it’s normal.

Historia
Jax is a pretty regular guy, has a job he tolerates, a girl he kinda, sorta loves...and he fights creatures from the UnderVerse in his sleep, leaving him covered in horrific scars when he wakes up. When his brother vanishes, and five years later he's kidnapped as well, he's given a stark choice by his asshat of a father: Go to the UnderVerse in reality, travel to the capitol of that ruined realm at the center of reality, and open a portal for the Noble Houses to return home...or die.

Brain child of a mall ninja
Revisado: 10-13-20
This book somehow is offensive to both western and eastern cultures and then still after all that manages to be boring.
Everything ninja or Asian is the best, I can’t even tell wtf the MC’s accent is supposed to be since he switches between British, and Australian slang. Oh and don’t get me started on his love for the NAW GI NAW TAH. Which is a pole arm btw and not a cross between a sword and a spear. Honestly if you are going to write about things that exist in the real world, do actual research.

Historia
Will Galvan is no longer a noob to The Realm. In fact, he's no longer Will Galvan. Emerged as Azure and still undecided about his class, the new hero is ready to face the cause of the curse on Crescent Island head-on. Little does he know that in-game decisions may have real-world consequences, up to and including death.

Yikes!
Revisado: 10-22-19
I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say that a full half of this book is about the main character being bored about this or that. He generally whines his way through everything. The first book was okay, though I felt the side characters pretty much sucked. This book didn’t even have the sucky characters everyone, even the main character seems generally bored with the whole affair. Not only that but there’s some plot threads that should have probably just been written out of the book.

Decent story let down by bored sounding narration
Revisado: 05-13-19
The story is decent enough, reads more like game lit than isekai. I hate the characters name it’s stupid and lame and every time I hear it I cringe also “Mayor Homer Simper” really.
The only real issue that made it hard for me to finish the book (aside from the slow pace) was the narrator. Every sentence sounds flat like someone reading a restaurant menu and there’s little to no emotion in the narration of fights so it sounds like someone reading a combat log. Then there’s the interaction between characters which has no continuity. She switches voices sometimes or the voices are weirdly whiny, the accents are terrible. My advice would be to just find a different narrator or at least talk to the narrator about the inflection they use.

Just fell flat.
Revisado: 01-31-18
For me this book just fell flat. The characters were either annoying or over simplified. The story felt poorly paced and meandering. And the whole bathrobe and slippers thing really isn’t funny and cheapens the progress of the character and the story. I think this is more of a young adult novel than anyone actually interested in this genera.

Excellent narration for a mediocre story
Revisado: 06-15-15
Any additional comments?
Derek Perkins's narration made this book series for me. The story is essentially every cliche fantasy action sequence brought to text. Though the author has skill in characterization and world building this book reads more like a novel about fighting a bad natural disaster than a tale of good versus evil. Plot holes and weak characters abound and make the loss of truly beautiful characters feel flat and static. In my opinion the author watched to many movies about sword fighting and didn't read enough of the fantasy greats to make his action scenes feel less like they came from a kung-fu movie.
