Historia
DCI Harry Grimm is still grappling with the Yorkshire Dales custom of eating cheese with cake. But the seasoned big-city cop has more than enough experience getting pulled out of bed in the middle of the night for the grisliest crimes. So the gruesome early-hour discovery of a woman’s savaged remains on the bleakly beautiful terrain has the detective keen to slam an ugly killer behind bars. But when the prime suspect goes missing and Grimm reworks the scene, he fears he sees signs of meticulous military planning and a culprit with a long list of victims.

Good, but slightly flawed.
Revisado: 11-28-24
Really enjoyed, but early on an obvious clue referencing the computers and the internet kind of gave away the perpetrator. If that clue had been eliminated it would have me guessing. Still a great listen with Aubrey!

Historia
DCI Harry Grimm is on the cusp of a stunning decision. Considering making his move to the scenic Yorkshire Dales permanent, he ends up reviewing details of a terrible car accident that killed a retired colonel's beloved wife. But when the panicked widower calls the police claiming the deceased woman's spirit is haunting him, the dedicated detective wades in to piece together a less implausible explanation.

Not as good as the 1st four books in the series
Revisado: 11-28-24
I have really enjoyed the first 4 books in this series, so I'm sad to say I'm disappointed by the 5th one. Nothing really happens until the very last couple chapters. Kinda of like an extended " MacGuffin". And While I expect a great deal of exposition about Harry's world and its people, this book takes it to such an extreme it's like slogging through a swamp. Sometimes I would skip ahead in chapter just in frustration. Visit the house .. Visit the sheep .. wash and repeat!
Aubrey's narration remains spot on, and I intend to continue with the series assuming this one is an exception, But I cannot imagine ever re-listening to this one.

Historia
Since Copernicus, humanity has increasingly seen itself as adrift, an insignificant speck within a large, cold universe. Brazilian physicist, astronomer, and winner of the 2019 Templeton Prize Marcelo Gleiser argues that we’re using the wrong paradigm to relate to the universe and our position in it. In this deeply researched and beautifully rendered book, he calls for us to embrace a new life-centric perspective, one which recognizes just how rare and precious life is and why it should be our mission to preserve and nurture it.

Historia
Traveling faster than light, the transport ship Redundancy is cut off from communication as effectively as an ancient ocean liner. The isolation suits crew member Ace Vance just fine—she’s got nowhere else to be. But when a wealthy passenger turns up dead during a routine voyage, Ace will have to connect with the passengers and crew to uncover the truth. Tragedy will strike again—it’s only a matter of time.

Limited form (short story)
Revisado: 09-20-23
A decent mystery story but not sufficiently complex for my taste. The attitudes and behavior of the characters does not fit the future time frame. The technical background was great but thin. Again, short story format was a strong limiting factor.

Historia
The year is 1924. Only a few years removed from the trenches of Flanders, Lieutenant Eric Peterkin has just been granted membership in the most prestigious soldiers-only club in London: the Britannia. But when a gentleman's wager ends with a member stabbed to death, the victim's last words echo in the lieutenant's head: that he would "Soon right a great wrong from the past". Eric is certain one of his fellow members is the murderer. But who?

Possible homage to Arthur Conan Doyle?
Revisado: 02-13-23
Although a bit wordy at times, the style suited the period. The narration was spot on. I will be checking for other works by the narrator and I will be looking forward to future works featuring the main character. I will probably get the e-book, if available, so that I can more closely look for the clues. I'm a big fan of Anthony Horowitz and would like to add Christopher Huang as a new writer to follow.

Historia
In 2004, Doctor Damien Howard's 131st birthday celebration took an unexpected turn. His personal SETI project detected an extraterrestrial signal directed at Earth. Unfortunately, Dr. Howard's long-hoped-for communication contained a message of dire warning rather than greeting. In 1945, humanity had become a species of galactic interest and was given 100 years to address the issue.

Too Many Characters and Too Little Plot
Revisado: 05-29-22
First, despite my negative review, I still plan to read at least the next installment of the series to see if things improve. Too much time was spent, usually at least a whole chapter or two introducing new characters. It's so woke it seems the writer may have a side bet with other writers to see how far over the edge of believability he could go. Most, like the Pilot/Navigator were very two dimensional caricatures of their ethnic backgrounds (ie a drunken irishman??).
It seems the writer has recently discovered the Deus ex machina plot device and uses it again, and again, and again! Every problem the main characters encountered is resolved by exploiting a new technology or skill previously not disclosed.
At first I was enchanted with the readers skill ... but god! after 4-5 hours I needed strong drink or drugs or both!!

Historia
Nobody remembers how the Causality War started. Really, there's no-one to remember and nothing for them to remember if there were; that's sort of the point. We were time warriors and we broke time. I was the one who ended it. Ended the fighting, tidied up the damage as much as I could. Then I came here, to the end of it all, and gave myself a mission: to never let it happen again.

Adrian remains one the few master story tellers of any type of fiction. This story was both funy and poignient..may sound silly but it haunts me.
