Historia
Cordelia knows her mother is . . . unusual. Their house doesn’t have any doors between rooms—there are no secrets in this house—and her mother doesn't allow Cordelia to have a single friend. Unless you count Falada, her mother's beautiful white horse. The only time Cordelia feels truly free is on her daily rides with him. But more than simple eccentricity sets her mother apart. Other mothers don’t force their daughters to be silent and motionless for hours, sometimes days, on end. Other mothers aren’t sorcerers.

Historia
When buried bones are unearthed by a storm in North Yorkshire’s picturesque coastal town of Whitby, Black is drawn into an investigation that takes him back to the late eighties and the fiery demise of a popular pub. Frank is no stranger to vulnerability. With a shattered daughter, he lives with it. With an outsider in Detective Inspector Gerry Carver, he works with it. And in Charlotte Wilson, a young, eighteen-year-old musician discarded and buried near the old whalebones of Whitby, he recognizes it.

Great characters
Revisado: 04-22-25
Stellar character development. A good pace as the story progresses. The story has some good twists but it is the characters and the deeds they have perpetrated that stands out. More than one crime is revealed as the past is examined. I do want more of this

A full story
Revisado: 04-21-25
One of the best stories involving fairie I have ever read or listened to. The characters are very well developed the story is simple but every facet is explored and it develops well over a long time. The ending is satisfying and complete. There could be a sequel but there doesn’t have to be a sequel. Loved it

Historia
In 1998 an Alku, Minnesota, family of five was brutally murdered in their sleep. The event shook the insulated community but, without any solid leads, was relegated to the cold case files, where it moldered for twenty-five years. Until today. Agent Harry Steinbeck hoped never to return to the northland, a place that holds terrible memories of his sister’s abduction. But when a recent homicide is connected to Alku’s unsolved mass murder, he and cold case agent Evangeline Reed have no choice but to investigate.

Really good
Revisado: 04-09-25
Great character development. A spooky story that unfolded slowly. Maybe a tad too slowly but that can be forgiven. Lots of characters with similar sounding unfamiliar names. A bit hard to keep track of who is who. But it all comes together and makes sense in the end. Hope there are many more in this series.

Had trouble engaging in the beginning. The set up to the murder is quite long and esoteric and philosophical. Once Barnaby came into the picture it was much easier to stay engaged.

I liked this because the story is revealed at a good pace. Maybe a bit slow. The main character is so so interesting. And the setting is so interesting. I am glad this is a series and I already have the next book. BUT, this is a dark story. Everything that is not yet revealed appears to be dark. The narrator gives it a dark tone. Not much cheer here at all.

Historia
The double murder of a married couple in a small Washington town draws FBI forensic linguist Raisa Susanto into an investigation that mirrors a decades-old crime. Twenty-five years ago—to the day—Alex Parker murdered his parents, then took his own life, leaving behind a note admitting everything. Raisa, paired with forensic psychologist Callum Kilkenny, uses her skills to read between the lines. Especially now that paranoid postings on a conspiracy thread suggest that Alex was a victim himself.

Historia
Things are going well for Jane Murphy, or so it seems. She’s making it in New York, a sort of wunderkind at the social media marketing startup where she works. She’s put an experimental writer, Jeremy Miller, on the map by helping him concoct a viral internet novel, told in fragments through various fake social media accounts. But privately, Jane feels trapped, ruled by her routines and her compulsions, caught up in an endless cycle of soothing and punishing herself.

The abstract implies some revelation from hearing the story from different perspectives. I heard no great revelation. Just a story And not a particularly interesting one.
