Historia
Arthur Leywin has experienced two lifetimes of challenge and adventure. He has lived as a swordsman, a mage, an adventurer, and a king. Now his two lives, old and new, will collide, revealing the connection between King Grey and Arthur Leywin, but at what cost? How will this affect the ongoing war between the nations of Alacrya and Dicathen? Enemy forces threaten the coastal cities, the elven forests, and the fortified mountain passes. Dicathen’s most powerful allies have vanished, and the military alliance between men, elves, and dwarves threatens collapse.

Dissapointing
Revisado: 08-18-21
I purchased the whole series on sale. I thoroughly enjoyed the first 6 books. The MC was smart and competent and the story was intresting and entertaining. But I have not even finished this book. When there was still 4 hours left I could not stand to listen anymore and am struggling to finish it. When I first saw the negative reviews for this book I thought I'd still give it a chance because I knew I really liked the story so far and maybe others didn't like the direction the story went but I would. But this is so terrible. I've never not finished a book, but I can barely bring myself to continue this one. I do like the back and forth between past and present. I'm okay with the multiple perspectives and side characters. It brings a sense of scale to the conflict. I'm good with the other side winning as long as there is some hope for the future.
What I cannot stand is the author making the characters be stupid on purpose.
If you really enjoy stories where the characters are stupid on purpose just to raise the suspense of the plot then you will enjoy this book. I constantly felt like banging my head against the wall in frustration at the sheer stupidity of the choices and decisions the characters made. And that's not the kind of experience I want from a book.
The Arthur in this book is not the same character as in the previous books. In this one, he's dumb, immature (especially for someone who has lived 2 lives), incompetent and indecisive. He also purposely sacrifices others, to go try and rescue the girl but he can't even manage that.
What I also could not stand is all the multiple betrayals. The betrayal in the previous book worked. But it got ridiculous in this book. Just have one side admit their loss, surrender and continue your story from there if that's what you want. Instead of overusing the "betrayal" angle so much. I did not care to read a story where everyone is shooting themselves in the foot while the ridiculously overpowered opponents are wiping them out. By the end, I was rooting for them to loose the war.

Great syfy!
Revisado: 11-12-18
I watched the movie years ago and love it. The book is just as great if not better. The story is thrilling and fascinating and the narration is great. Michael Crichton always has a plot you can see happening in real life and presents the consequences of those human actions. It’s terrifying in its realism.

Bittersweet story
Revisado: 11-12-18
This was a sweet, sad story. I cannot take a lot of angst but this was bearable and the ending was perfect. The narrator did a good job reading the main character but his voice for Colby takes some getting used to.

Great Story!
Revisado: 11-12-18
I really loved this book. The main hero is not the standard thriller hero. He’s a quirky meek writer who gets by on luck until he decides to believe in himself and use his strengths. I loved all the twists and turns the story takes and loved the ending. It was so enjoyable and fun.

Loved it!
Revisado: 11-03-18
I thoroughly enjoyed this book so much I purchased the entire series. I will be looking into more from Charlie Cochet.
The narration and pacing was excellent. The narrator really drew me into the story. This was the first m/m audiobook I listened to that the narration did not have me cringing during intimate moments and I was glad for this to be one of the first books I came across on Audible.
This does have a romantic sub plot story line but it is not the main focus of the book. It builds over the series. Which I like in audiobooks. I like to listen to a lot of action and detective work, but I do need that romantic storyline!
The main focus is the story of Dex, a former police officer, being forced to join the animal shifter S.W.A.T type of team that his brother is a part of and his dad oversees. I loved all the characters and their interactions. Dex was my favorite of course.

Great story!
Revisado: 10-26-18
I was pleasantly surprised how good this was. Nathaniel was my favorite character. I loved how bold he was and how he would stand up for himself. He’s my favorite type of main character. I hate pushover type characters that just let anything happen to them and act all “poor me” and like there is nothing they can do to help themselves especially if it’s the other main character being overbearing and antagonistic. But Nathaniel really stood up for himself and would push back against Hawk.
The narration is excellent which makes the story that much more enjoyable. I fully enjoyed the story from beginning to end. At this time this is the only audiobook available by this author but I will be keeping my eye out for others!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is a sweet and funny story and the narrator was SO wonderful to listen to. In fact this is my first ever book review because of how much I enjoyed listening to this book.
I am a voracious listener of audiobooks (since you can't read 24/7), and a good narrator just pulls you into a story and brings it to life.
