Historia
Colette “Coco” Weber has relocated to her Catalina Island home, where, twenty years before, she was the sole survivor of a deadly home invasion. All Coco wants is to see her aunt Gwen, get as far away from her ex as possible, and get back to her craft—writing obituaries. Thankfully, her college best friend, Maddy, owns the local paper and has a job sure to keep Coco busy, considering the number of elderly folks who are dying on the island. But as Coco learns more about these deaths, she quickly realizes that the circumstances surrounding them are remarkably similar....

Mediocre

The story and character are confusing at times. It seemed to drag out prior to ending.

A little slow
Revisado: 08-09-09
While this is enjoyable and humorous at times, it gets tedious to listen to as it moves soooo slow. t

Interesting
Revisado: 08-09-09
I truly enjoyed this book...not necessarily what what happening but the character and thought processes of the narrator. If you've ever known a child with Asperger Syndrome, this narrator fits the description perfectly.

Historia
When Pippa Dunn, adopted as an infant and raised terribly British, discovers that her birth parents are from the American South, she finds that "culture clash" has layers of meaning she'd never imagined. Meet The English American, a fabulously funny, deeply poignant debut novel that sprang from Alison Larkin's autobiographical one-woman show of the same name.

Wonderful listen
Revisado: 08-09-09
This was a wonderful, funny listen. I love the characters and the idea that people are often not what they seem at first glance...particularly family.

I'm a huge fan of Jodi Picault and was NOT disappointed with this. I thought the full cast narration was wonderful as well. This author keeps you constantly thinking and wondering who's side you're on. I loved it!

I'm neither Jewish, nor Russian, nor a New Yorker...but I felt I had entered a profoundly interesting, and moving family history. The narrator of this was incredible and brought each character to life.
