Historia
When Murderbot discovers a dead body on Preservation Station, it knows it is going to have to assist station security to determine who the body is (was), how they were killed (that should be relatively straightforward, at least), and why (because apparently that matters to a lot of people - who knew?). Yes, the unthinkable is about to happen: Murderbot must voluntarily speak to humans! Again!

I really like these books, but they are novellas, and we're still being charged full novel credits. That lost one star.

Lucky 7 - the best one in a remarkable series!
Revisado: 10-16-23
All the six previous books have been well crafted and wonderfully narrated novels, but #7 is definitely my favorite. I hardly noticed the length of the book, (other than staying up too late listening) and wished it could keep going on. I know it will be a long wait until the next book, but I hope the author will take pity on those of us who are now eagerly looking forward to the next installment, and write faster.
Thank you, Robert Glenister, for your talented narration.

From the legendary actor and best-selling author: a novel about the making of a star-studded, multimillion-dollar superhero action film...and the humble comic books that inspired it. Funny, touching, and wonderfully thought-provoking, while also capturing the changes in America and American culture since World War II.

Ovaltine - good idea
Revisado: 05-27-23
I really enjoyed this book. Of course, it was well narrated - it's Tom Hanks!! To be fair there were a number of other narrators who were also wonderful.
It took me a couple of chapters to get into the rhythm of the book, but soon it was flowing along, Mr. Hanks writes about his characters with respect and appreciation for their contributions to the art of movie-making, More importantly, he also makes them relatable, and (mostly) likeable. Through his long career, Mr. Hanks was, obviously, paying attention to his surroundings, and does a fine job of putting us in the middle of a very complex world. We rarely think of the nuts and bolts of this industry, and I appreciated the chance to peek in the window.
Oh - and after I finished the book, I immediately bought some Ovaltine for my coffee. Nice touch.

Historia
Sparrow “Ro” Meadowcroft is about to get the promotion she’s always dreamed of–curator of the museum where she works. She loves old things and the history that surrounds them, so when a patron leaves some items to the museum, Ro is eager to dig in. The sword in the stone that comes with those items is clearly a joke. A well-made but obvious replica meant to be a conversation starter. Why anyone would think that belonged in the museum is beyond her, but she can’t resist taking a crack at it and finding out if she’s the chosen one. And as it turns out...she is.

Narrator does well, the rest is not worth it
Revisado: 05-16-23
The narrator is good and has a lovely voice. The story is too simplistic for my taste. The ending was weirdly abrupt and awkward. No warning, no tying up loose ends, it just...stops.
I purchased this book (instead of using a credit), because the purchase price was less than the credit price. Unfortunately this was one of the rare occasions when I was not happy with the product, and wanted to return it. Turns out you can't return a book if you don't use a credit to purchase it. Live and learn.

Fun ride, well performed
Revisado: 03-20-23
I like Ilona Andrews books, especially the Innkeeper Chronicles. They are fun, well narrated, and a perfect escape from our daily stresses. I love the creativity inside the world of Gertrude Hunt, and this particular book had a lot packed into it. I do want to point out that this book also ended with a cliff-hanger (still waiting for the sequel to "Sweep of the Blade" y'all). So, be prepared to be frustrated that the next in the series may be a while.
One thing I would not want for the next book, is the synopsis of each previous chapter. In a written book, you can easily skip it. However, in an audio book, it interrupts the flow, and mood, from one chapter to the next.
Other than that minor issue - it's well worth the credit!

Loved the book.
Revisado: 09-11-22
I have enjoyed the Cormoran and Robin novels from the start and this one does not disappoint. The author has an incredible gift for creating characters with depth and personality and heart. I find myself liking, hating, or being frustrated by the various complex people that you meet in these novels.
Although it was a little challenging to follow all the chat room, texts , and tweets in an audio book, I was able to get into the rhythm of it after a short time.
Robert Glenister was marvelous , as always. His range of character voicings is incredible, and a pleasure to listen to.
I look forward to the next book in which I hope our two favorite detectives really do "open their eyes".

Decent book - needed editing
Revisado: 04-24-22
Top scores to the narrator who was imaginative and extremely varied in her depiction of the many characters. You always knew who was who.
For my taste, the constant battles became too repetitive. Too may close calls, last minute saves, too long. A shorter, more compact book may have fixed that impression. I skipped ahead several times. Might be easier to read this than to listen. Things fly by faster when you're reading.
The overall plot and imaginative universe of the book is very good. I also liked the futuristic physics lesson at the end.

Believably frightening, and a compelling story
Revisado: 02-25-22
First I want to say that I was not immediately sure about the narrator. She is not an "impersonator" with many accents, or voice characterizations, However, after a while, I came to appreciate the performance. Her delivery is solid, and somehow very suited to the story.
The book is fast paced, well written, and has the ring of authenticity that, obviously, stems from HRC's experiences. I enjoyed the twists and turns, and the rich characters (I think Betsy was my favorite). There was also a thoughtful representation of multiple cultures, and, I got a kick out of the well placed jabs about a previous president.
I enjoyed the ride.
