A phenomenal ending to a fantastic series. Very happy with how everything turned out, left nothing on the table and wrapped up all storylines nicely

Picked up cuz of reynolds, stayed for Sullivan
Revisado: 03-27-25
Was looking through some of Reynolds’ works after finishing another series he read, started this one cuz it was free at the time but after finishing it I would’ve paid.
Fantastic characters, great plot line, well executed comedy that doesn’t come off as forced (like much of fantasy comedy breaks these days), and story moments with emotional impact. A great read all and all.
After this I went on to read the rest of the series and have since started the prequel series. I highly recommend the series to any that love fantasy and characters/stories that inspire

Poor voice acting, marvel movie humor
Revisado: 01-22-25
Book was enjoyable enough at first but like most of this genre it suffers from the dreaded curse of the redditor. Most jokes are classic “he’s right behind me, isn’t he” level of humor. That alone wouldn’t be worth such a bad rating but this va over acts like crazy. He sounds like he’s gonna cry over everything. I will give it to him that he’s better than Travis baldree about it and has voices that aren’t painful to listen unlike Travis but it gets annoying. Especially the mirthful deep throated chucked over marvel movie quips.

Revisado: 11-22-24
Great story, impressive world and character building for this genre. Actually focuses more on the characters than the progression but still has that element and a very satisfying one at that. The progression element is really well done and fits the high fantasy world without feeling too “systemy”
Very nice

Very YA
Revisado: 11-19-24
Was getting bored of the YA feel for the first few chapters and then the author revealed the main character (14 year old boy) is gay. It’s cool if that’s your thing, isn’t mine and I remembered the romance tag so I’m out. Seems like this series is more geared toward young girls.

I mean that literally. He’s mastered his style and he’s dominated his direction. Beautiful work.
And for those that have yet to reintegrated into this narration style: you’re just not very good at listing to (reading) stories. Give up.

Amazing. As per usual
Revisado: 04-05-24
Really great but the pronunciation of certain things was completely different with the new narrator as well as some characters sounding completely different. I get the latter change but the former was a bit weird. Still a great narrator just took a bit of getting used to. He ended up bringing some characters to life in completely different ways that were even better than before.

Shakespearean
Revisado: 03-21-24
The story is beautiful. The characters are amazing. This book illustrates a beautifully horrific portrayal of the human condition through the lens of a high fantasy story in an amazing and poetic way. I love high fantasy. It is my favorite genre. This book brings it to a level I couldn’t have imagined as it marries high fantasy with the literary deception of a Shakespearean play. It is beautiful and I highly recommend it. I am aware of how pretentious I sound but still, give it a shot.

Brought to life
Revisado: 03-01-24
Been listening to these books for about a year or two now. Ended up reading all of the first 9, got tired of waiting and subscribed to J. F. Brinks Patreon to catch all the way up. After catching up in that and waiting week to week for a few months I decided to come listen to the audio book versions and was not disappointed. These books have some of the most progress we’ve seen in the series as the plot has grown more and more in depth and hearing them be brought to life by Pravi was a treat. Excited to listen to the next one, and catch up on the Patreon again.
