Historia
Neal Karlen was the only journalist Prince granted in-depth press interviews to for more than a dozen years, from before Purple Rain to when the artist changed his name to an unpronounceable glyph. Karlen interviewed Prince for three Rolling Stone cover stories, wrote “3 Chains o’ Gold”, Prince’s “rock video opera”, as well as the star’s last testament. According to Prince's former fiancée, Susannah Melvoin, Karlen was “the only reporter who made Prince sound like what he really sounded like”.

Intimate Account
Revisado: 08-31-24
Having been an enthusiastic supporter/fan since the 70s, I was surprised by this relationship between Prince and the author, and just how revealing an account of the artist there could be. Despite the hard audio paragraph amd sing sentence punch-ins, it is a well told series of interwoven stories under the umbrella of the phenom I love and admire even more, now. And the additions of recorded interviews really aided in the just humanization of the man, Prince.
