Would you listen to another book narrated by Tara Platt?

If I had a choice probably not. She read way too fast at times and you couldn't put it on a slower speed because then it would be too slow.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, because I would get aggravated with the way Josie was acting and have to put it aside for a while.

All in all it was a good story, although a tad overboard at times.

Repetition galore

If you could take out all the repetition and the constant reminders then the story would be a lot better. A lot of what's in the book is something you already know if you've read the previous books in the series. In fact, you probably have a good portion memorized because the same story or description is told in each book.

In this one it finally comes down to a show-down between Mab and Gin. I won't give anything else away, although I'm sure you can guess who wins.

If you like a lot of introspection, constantly being reminded what color eyes are or what knives or weapons are made of, then you might like this book. The action was okay but all the repetition kind of ruined it for me, also constantly being reminded how good she is.

At least Owen made a nice addition and Finn is starting to come into his own.

Great collection of stories

Would you consider the audio edition of The Complete Sherlock Holmes to be better than the print version?

Yes because if you had just read it you wouldn't have gotten to listen to the great narration by Simon Vance.

I probably would rate this closer to 4.5 but as you know you can't give half stars. I enjoyed most of the stories. There were a few that either I didn't quite understand or fell flat, but well worth the time and credit. In fact, I'm kind of sorry it's come to an end.

Tip: If you just download one part at a time you might want to download the next part before you finish as many times the parts were split in the middle of a story.

Could have been shorter

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes and no. The plot was interesting, as were the characters, but it just seemed to drag in places. Since this was an interpreted book I felt lost at times with all the foreign places and names. The history lesson was interesting, but again too long at times.

A lot of questions were left unanswered. It does end with a cliffhanger so maybe some of them will be answered in the next book but I didn't like it enough to continue with the series.

Both narrators did an excellent job with the foreign names and places.

Couldn't finish

What disappointed you about 44 Scotland Street?

There were too many people to keep track of and my mind would drift off which made it even harder to know what was going on once it had drifted back to the book.

Has 44 Scotland Street turned you off from other books in this genre?

Not sure what genre this is.

What about Robert Ian Mackenzie’s performance did you like?

He had a pleasant voice and was easy to listen to.

I did try to listen to the book but it just couldn't hold my attention. I listened for four hours and then jumped to the last 30 minutes to see how it ended. If the ending had been interesting I might have gone back and listened to the whole book, but alas it wasn't that interesting.

Decent story

Even though the love story was a little weak in this one, at least the love scenes were a decent length and not too descriptive. The beginning of the book started out strong telling how it all began but then when it jumps to present day it kind of starts going downhill. All the characters were well-developed but there just seemed to be something lacking.

The narrator almost ruined the book by being way over the top on some scenes. The scenes would have turned out better if she had just toned it down a lot. I also had trouble a few times trying to figure out who was talking.

Since I already have the second book in the trilogy I'll continue with the story, but depending how that one goes will determine whether I get the third one.

Great love story

A young girl leaves Boston at the turn of the century because of her pleurisy to go stay with her uncle in Canada. There she finds love, happiness and hardship. This was a very moving love story and gives you a glimpse into life in Canada at the turn of the century. Just be sure to have some tissue handy.

The narrator did an excellent job of bringing the story to life.
