Dull and predictable.

Is there anything you would change about this book?
I would have given the story less exposition and more active scenes.
What was most disappointing about Michael Koryta’s story?
Just mundane stuff.
What aspect of Scott Brick’s performance would you have changed?
I would have given Scott Brick a little more energy and pace.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
No.

Good attempt, but thought it missed the mark
Revisado: 07-26-16
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
A cast that is more experienced in audio recording and better suited for the audiobook medium. Less time in between character breaks. Maybe not as many actors in general.
Also, when certain sound effects were added, it sounded too tinny. And trying to make it seem more real and visceral by pulling away from the mic and lowering levels just didn't seem to work for me.
What could Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Even though the story's origins are as a graphic novel, do whatever you can to make it a seamless audio production. I think I know why they made certain choices, one being extended original music breaks between chapters, and I respect it. But for a seasoned listener, it's mostly annoying.
Would you be willing to try another one of the narrators’s performances?
No. This particular multicast had too many holes in it.
What character would you cut from Locke & Key?
One of the male detectives. Wasn't ready for prime time.
Any additional comments?
Good try. I'd listen to another, as long as it was more streamlined.

Historia
In his own words, the heavyweight champion of the world pulls no punches as he chronicles the battles he faced in and out of the ring in this fascinating memoir edited by Nobel Prize-winning novelist, Toni Morrison. Growing up in the South, surrounded by racial bigotry and discrimination, Ali fought not just for a living, but also for respect and rewards far more precious than money or glory. He was named Sportsman of the Century by Sports Illustrated and the BBC.

Great book, phenomenal interpretation
Revisado: 06-24-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I certainly would recommend this. This book chronicles intimate details of Ali's upbringing from his POV that are incredibly interesting and revealing. And Dion Graham's performance is superb. Wonderful nuance.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Greatest?
The description and performance of the taped dialogue between Ali and Joe Frazier before their fight as they drive together on a long road trip.

Historia
Set during the great San Francisco earthquake and fire, this pause-resisting historical novel reveals recently uncovered facts that forever change our understanding of what really happened. Narrated by a feisty young reporter, Annalisa Passarelli, the novel paints a vivid picture of the Post-Victorian city, from the mansions of Nob Hill to the underbelly of the Barbary Coast, to the arrival of tenor Enrico Caruso and the Metropolitan Opera.

Terrific Narration of a Fine Suspenseful Novel
Revisado: 01-13-16
What made the experience of listening to 1906: A Novel the most enjoyable?
I very much enjoy Historical Fiction, and this intriguing story with the backdrop of an earthquake disaster made for very entertaining and enlightening material. The narrator did a fine job as well. That makes you want to get back to listening as soon as possible when you have to take a break.
What did you like best about this story?
The first two sentences above.
Have you listened to any of Gigi Shane’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not, but I certainly will after listening to this. Her voice is magical.
If you could take any character from 1906: A Novel out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Lincoln, the Sheriff from Kansas. Would have enjoyed that conversation in that setting.
Any additional comments?
Wonderful performance.

Revisado: 09-01-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
yes. It's a very fresh take on the clone genre. Really well done, and appropriate vocal choices by Kafer.
Which character – as performed by Jeffrey Kafer – was your favorite?
42. Was a first-person novel, so he had just the right amount of snide and smart-aleckieness in his delivery.

Historia
A newly minted graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Medical School in 1890, Dr. Thomas Parks heads to the big timber country of Puget Sound to practice trauma medicine. An hour after stepping off the boat, he's nearly crushed to death by a less-than-sure-footed mule and finds himself a patient rather than a physician. As he convalesces, he discovers that his host, a venerable physician friend of his father's, is running an elaborate medical scam, selling worthless concoctions nationwide, with enormous sales.

Dr. Thomas Parks is the Voice of Reason!
Revisado: 09-01-14
If you could sum up Race for the Dying in three words, what would they be?
Poignant. Interesting. Historical.
What did you like best about this story?
The images in my mind of the town in the NW where it took place. Love stories like that. And the narrator really did a good job with the era and the location. Good vocal choices and variety.
What does Chris Andrew Ciulla bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The slew of characters that you would see in this story from the turn of the century really came to life. I would have had thoughts of their voices, but these were so much more vivid. I'm looking forward to the next one he narrates in this series!

Nice Story, Great Read
Revisado: 09-01-14
What did you love best about Beauty?
It was an appropriate fictional telling of a scenario that happens a good amount nowadays. Conscience vs. The Mighty Dollar. And the narrator does a great job flushing these characters out. Nice variety too.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Easy. Memorable Salt-of-the-Earth East Coaster. I remember people like him.
What does Chris Andrew Ciulla bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
All these characters were real. And there was a good amount of variation between them all. Was quite a colorful bit of storytelling.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Some wordplay on Beauty and The Beast...but would have to take some time to flush it out.

Historia
Flying Saucer to the Center of Your Mind is a collection of magazine articles and lectures by the man many consider to be not only the 20th century’s premiere investigator of all things unusual and “Fortean,” but also our very own 20th-century “Mark Twain”: John A. Keel. Many of the articles in this anthology and its companion volumes, "The Outer Limits of the Twilight Zone" and "Searching for the String," were revolutionary, and explored ideas popularized in Keel’s classic books.

Certainly I would, if they enjoyed the subject matter, or if they were looking for an interesting, nuanced listen.
What does Michael Hacker bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
His tone and pace is perfect for this genre. Smooth with a touch of mystery.
