Historia
Near an isolated mansion lies a beautiful garden. In this garden grow luscious flowers, shady trees...and a collection of precious “butterflies” - young women who have been kidnapped and intricately tattooed to resemble their namesakes. Overseeing it all is the Gardener, a brutal, twisted man obsessed with capturing and preserving his lovely specimens.

Narration was off putting
Revisado: 01-18-25
The narration didn’t make sense with different voices playing the same character. I only lasted one chapter. Might try the book edition.

Historia
Riverside Close is a picture-perfect community. The six exclusive and attractive houses are tucked far away from the noise and grime of city life, allowing the residents to enjoy beautiful gardens, pleasant birdsong, and tranquility from behind the security of a locked gate. It is the perfect idyll, until the Kentworthy family arrives, with their four giant, gas-guzzling cars, gaggle of shrieking children, and plans for a garish swimming pool in the backyard. Obvious outsiders, the Kentworthys do not belong in Riverside Close, and quickly offend every last one of the neighbors.

Historia
On the surface, Lydia Fitzsimons has the perfect life - wife of a respected, successful judge, mother to a beloved son, mistress of a beautiful house in Dublin. That beautiful house, however, holds a secret. And when Lydia’s son, Laurence, discovers its secret, wheels are set in motion that lead to an increasingly claustrophobic and devastatingly dark climax.

Historia
Craig Beck is a well-regarded family man with two children, a nice home and a successful media career. A director of several companies & at one time the trustee of a large children’s charity. Outwardly, Craig was a highly successful & functioning professional man in spite of a ‘2 bottles of wine a night’ drinking habit. For 20 years he struggled to control his drinking, all the time refusing to label himself an alcoholic because he didn't believe he met the stereotypical image that the word portrayed.

All I can say is Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What did you love best about Alcohol Lied To Me - Extended Edition?
25 years of living like I couldn't enjoy life without a drink was an albatross around my neck. Every day I said, 'its the last time"... Now it's been 5 months and I feel like a changed person. I am not concerned about fallling back into my old ways because I honestly believe that person has been erased.
What other book might you compare Alcohol Lied To Me - Extended Edition to and why?
You can compare the AA bible, or many other self help books, but its the way Craig Beck brings to light how ridiculous western culture is... we seriously act like a bunch of drones who simply accept social norms to be acceptable and not what is really right for us. His was the only one that hit home and I continue to listen to it, almost like an old friend, when I'm on my way to a business dinner, or a social gathering....
Which scene was your favorite?
Chapter 8 where he talks about how everyone who is stil drinking will do everything in their power to make you sucumb to their level and drink. Its actually laughable to me now that Craig has pointed it out to me. I make a game out of it for myself - very entertaining how ridiculous people get when around someone drinking iced tea at a party.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
All of it has had a very lasting effect on me... but mostly when he blows the lid off marketing companies for alcohol and how engrained drinking is in our culture. Children grow up looking forward to being able to be part of the "club"... lonely people with low self esteem think its an elixer that will cure their worries when at the end of the day its just a vicious cycle. AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING!
Any additional comments?
Craig could build a HUGE presence in the US! His approach is very different and straightforward with no hidden agendas. I've gone on to listen to Fat Girl Friday (of which I lost 11 pounds in 2 weeks so far) and Swallow the Happy Pill. I'm on my second listen through and have already had a few "ah ha" moments..... Keep them coming!!!!

NOT ANOTHER FAD DIET
Revisado: 08-06-14
Would you consider the audio edition of Fat Girl Friday to be better than the print version?
Yes because you can listen anytime. His voice is very convincing and his stories hit home. He is able to take complex nutritional jargon and make it very simple to understand.
What other book might you compare Fat Girl Friday to and why?
I've read dozens upon dozens of "diet" books from celebrity weight loss trainers, PHDs, life coaches, chefs, etc and all had short term benefits. Craig Beck's Fat Girl Friday actually made me change my habits and understand how simple it is to lose weight and keep it off long term.
What does Craig Beck bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Craig Beck brings humor and guidance without ever sounding flat, boring, elitest, or condescending. He sounds like a big brother who is just looking out for his friends and extended family. Reading the book is fine but only 1 dimensional, listening to the audio really brings it home.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Wheat Lied To You... ha ha ha
Any additional comments?
I am very much hoping Craig Beck makes the talk circut here in the US!
