another memorable addition to this series

This is dark and full of excitement, sadness, and twists as it tells the background of Haymitch. The narrator does a great job too!

A Must Read
Revisado: 09-15-24
This book is a heartbreaking look at the before, during, and after impact of the Vietnam War. Although historical fiction, what the men and women saw and endured abroad and at home will stay with me and remind me of the importance of honoring our veterans for their dedication and sacrifice.

Sadie Montgomery never saw what was coming . . . Literally! One minute she’s celebrating the biggest achievement of her life—placing as a finalist in the North American Portrait Society competition—the next she’s lying in a hospital bed diagnosed with a “probably temporary” condition known as face blindness. She can see, but every face she looks at is now a jumbled puzzle of disconnected features. Imagine trying to read a book upside down and in another language. This is Sadie’s new reality.

Historia
They say you can never go home again, and for Persephone Fraser, ever since she made the biggest mistake of her life a decade ago, that has felt too true. Instead of glittering summers on the lakeshore of her childhood, she spends them in a stylish apartment in the city, going out with friends, and keeping everyone a safe distance from her heart. Until she receives the call that sends her racing back to Barry’s Bay and into the orbit of Sam Florek—the man she never thought she’d have to live without.

The narration was excellent, but the abuse suffered at the hands of Shelly Knotek was hard to hear at times. I love how the book comes full circle. It provides an eye opening to how cruel some people can be and the unbreakable bond of sisters.
