Historia
In the heart of the South Pacific lies Point Nemo, the most desolate and remote place on Earth. At its core is a dead zone, devoid of life, where government agencies crash their obsolete satellites and space stations, confident they won't harm a soul. When the International Space Station suffers a catastrophic failure and plummets through the atmosphere, it's here that Mission Specialist Julie Rohr, an astrobiologist studying living space dust called xylem, finds herself marooned. Julie's only hope for rescue lies in the hands of her estranged father, Dr. Finn Maddern, a renowned mycologist.

I love Koontz. Please don’t get me wrong; however, I feel a lot of his stories are long on development and quick on conclusion. This is no different.

This had a little different vibe than a lot of the apocalypse stories. I also liked the militaristic approach to the problem.

Very entertaining plot and great performance. The Bad guy is almost supernatural. I hope at some point the author explains how he is able to do all he has been able to do.

Narrator was great! The story??
Revisado: 08-01-22
The story was not to my liking. I noticed in some of the reviews I read before purchasing the book that they described the characters as horrible. I should have paid attention to those comments. I listened to the entire book bc I’m not a quitter. Unfortunately I purchased the second book in the series prior to listening to the first. I wont be listening to it.

Historia
Sam Hill always saw the world through different eyes. Born with red pupils, he was called “Devil Boy” or Sam “Hell” by his classmates; “God’s will” is what his mother called his ocular albinism. Her words were of little comfort, but Sam persevered. Sam believed it was God who sent Ernie Cantwell, the only African American kid in his class, to be the friend he so desperately needed. And that it was God’s idea for Mickie Kennedy to storm into Our Lady of Mercy like a tornado, uprooting every rule Sam had been taught about boys and girls. Forty years later, Sam, a small-town eye doctor, is no longer certain anything was by design.

This was a very happy surprise.
Revisado: 09-24-18
I have only written a review for one book prior to this but I felt compelled to do so again bc I think the author/performer of this book deserves the praise.
I read/listen to books of fiction for several reasons. The first is to take me away from the rigors and boredom of my monotonous work day. This book easily accomplished that. The second reason (and much more difficult to accomplish) is to actually get an emotional jolt. I have listened to hundreds of books and have had maybe 5 or less actually make me literally laugh out loud to the point that people in my gym have looked at me like I’m crazy. It also brought an occasional tear of sadness and even more of those of joy.
I highly recommend this book. If you have a heart, even a hardened one, you will enjoy it.
