Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Soo Good!
Revisado: 11-20-24
Easily a top 5 book of all time for me. I’m not even a big science nerd, but I loved this story. The narrator was a perfect fit. I’m sure I would have also loved the print book, but the narration and sound effects added so much life and emotion to the story without being over the top or obnoxious. I feel like I am now set up for profound disappointment with the upcoming movie adaptation next year. I don’t know how it can possibly hold up to what I just listened to.

Historia
Miah Gray is a 27-year-old former army soldier living in rural New Hampshire with his sister, mother, and her boyfriend. He is plagued by PTSD, finding solace, but not redemption, with the aid of prescribed cannabis. All he wants to do is get high, relax with a good sandwich, and watch a meteor shower with his neighborhood crush, Jen. When the sun's light is blotted out the following morning and the world is plunged into darkness, Miah finds himself locked down with his family, covering windows with trash bags, lighting candles, and following the arcane rules of an ancient prophecy.

Historia
September. A beautiful New York editor retreats to a lonely cabin on a hill in the quiet Maine beach town of Dead River - off season - awaiting her sister and friends. Nearby, a savage human family with a taste for flesh lurks in the darkening woods, watching, waiting for the moon to rise and night to fall.

Want a first class seat to crazy town? Yes Please!
Revisado: 09-30-21
What a wonderfully crazy ride this book is! There are so many horror novels and authors that I love, but felt like they could have gone further. With beautifully crafted descriptions of what true horror and carnage could look like. Might look like. But never going all the way there. Setting the stage for crazy town, but leaving me at the front door to wonder "What If?" Not Jack Ketchum. He puts his arm around me and walks me right through the door to the center of it. This is the second Ketchum novel I've read, and both are 10/10. Both were slow starts, with the first 1/3 slowly charting the course to the crazy that I know is coming, and the last 2/3 being beautifully crafted chaos and carnage. Woven together and told from different perspectives to paint the unsterilized raw horror that so many other horror authors fall short of. If you shy away from violence and gore in your horror novels, you're probably not a fan of Ketchum anyway. Maybe I'm just desensitized from watching one too many hardcore indie horror films. But Ketchum's books, especially this one, really scratch my horror itch better than most. In today's world of trigger warnings and people being offended by something even before their feet hit the floor in the morning, this is exactly the kind of no holds barred horror novel I want to escape into for a while. A book that doesn't care about my comfort. A book that's going to stir up feelings and emotions like very few others can. And that afterward by Ketchum was such a nice cherry on top.

Historia
Four decades after it first shook the nation, then the world, William Peter Blatty's thrilling masterwork of faith and demonic possession returns in an even more powerful form. Raw and profane, shocking and blood-chilling, it remains a modern parable of good and evil and perhaps the most terrifying novel ever written.

Masterpiece
Revisado: 05-08-21
An absolute masterpiece of a narration performance. As close to perfection as you can get. The bar has been set with this one!
