Historia
The press calls me this year’s hot shot, the rookie who scores at will and conjures plays out of thin air. Truth is… I’m a PR nightmare. Seriously. Ask my agent. My anxiety is off the charts. I can’t talk to the media without breaking into a cold sweat, but once I get through the season, I can regroup at home. Life is simpler in Vermont. Well, not anymore. There’s a new cowboy in town. Literally, a cowboy. At least, Hank looks like one—he owns a horse, wears a hat, and did I mention he’s hot?

Great story. Great narration.
Revisado: 04-26-25
This is the type of story that has me clicking preorder on Lane Hayes' books with just a glance at the synopsis. Denny is sweet, Hank is charming, and Denny's grandmother is my hero. The entire cast of Elmwood is lovely. I escaped small-town life years ago, but I might not have been in such a hurry if I had lived in Elmwood.
As with most of Lane Hayes' books, the romance was an appealing balance of sweet and steamy. In addition to the romance, this story had social commentary that I appreciated. Sports and business play an important role in communities, and the message about both in this story was insightful.
Nick J. Russo's narration was another pleasant listen, and I am looking forward to the release of the next audiobook.

Historia
Elmwood isn't good for my love life. Hey, I'm a positive person and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about small town living, but I haven't had a date in years. That's fine. My son is and always has been my number one focus. Except now he's grown and gone. And its lonely. Okay, yes, the new hockey coach is hot and single, but he's off limits. Smitty's trouble with a capital T, and his baggage might outweigh mine. Besides, we said nothing would happen after that night. It was a one-time, never to be repeated deal. At least that's what I thought.

Good story. Good narration.
Revisado: 04-26-25
I liked Smitty. He is one of my favorite characters in this series so far. He is the type of person who seems comfortable in their own skin. He doesn't always know what he wants, and he isn't afraid to try new things. Bryson needs someone to shake up his ordered world. These two might be able to offer each other some new life experiences.
The romance has a comfortable balance of sweet and steamy that Lane Hayes is talented at creating. The conflict is just tense enough to keep you reading, but not so tense that you can't sleep. My team losing the latest Stanley Cup Playoff game did that... Anyway, if you need a book with soothing narration by Nick J. Russo to keep you from throwing hockey pucks at the television, this will be an entertaining read/listen.

Problem: I don’t know what to do with myself. Helping out at the rink might be my ticket out of here, but nothing is happening fast enough. And then there’s Ivan. No, no, it’s not what you think. We went to school together. We’re acquaintance-friends…nothing more. But you know, I like him. A lot. He’s funny and relentlessly upbeat. I’m a better person when I’m with him—the kind who volunteers to deck the halls and wrap garland on lampposts and—Whoa.

So far, this series is about retiring hockey players finding love in a small town. The romance has been sweet and steamy in all of the books, including this one. The angst is minimal. The characters are charming. The narration by Nick J. Russo is pleasant, and I enjoyed the read/listen. If you are looking for low-stress romance involving hockey players, you will enjoy the story.

My time playing pro hockey will be up soon. I can feel it. And I’ve heard the rumors: he’s too old, he’s had too many injuries, he’s lost his edge. I don’t want to admit it, but they could be right. Next season might be my last. Or this season. Because of course, this is when the universe decides I need another concussion. It’s a doozy too—the kind that’s going to keep me off skates for a while.

I was entertained. I liked the characters. The story had some interesting moments and a few steamy scenes. The "French" accent wasn't. I really like Nick J. Russo's narration, but that accent was a bit aggravating if you speak any French.

Historia
Hockey is in my blood. I learned to skate before I learned how to ride a bike. I’ve been on a wild ride, playing at the highest level for some of the biggest and best teams in the league. But now it’s over, and I’m not sure what to do with myself. So I'm going home to Elmwood. But I’ll tell you what I’m not gonna do—I’m not going to coach my buddy’s junior hockey league. No chance. I don’t know how to deal with kids, and besides, the other coach—who happens to be my best friend’s brother—hates me. With reason.

I was saving this series for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. I'm glad I did. My team is in the Playoffs, and I need low stress reads/listens. This was a sweet romance with the moderate angst you can expect from a second chance romance.
As usual, I enjoy getting to know Lane Hayes characters, and Nick J. Russo's narration is pleasant to listen to.

Good story. Good narration.
Revisado: 04-15-25
This book was another compelling romantic mystery from Josh Lanyon. I miss the longer series by Lanyon, but this book was an entertaining diversion from reality. The mystery, which was the focus of the story, was engaging, and the romance added a dash of tension to the story.
James Woodrich's voice was pleasant, and the narration was good, but some parts felt a bit choppy. At times, he sounded like he was reading from a script that he hadn't rehearsed quite well enough.

Great story. Great narration.
Revisado: 04-15-25
Chris gets his story. Life with overprotective older brothers can be a bit of a trial, but Chris has survived, and he is looking for his bit of peace like his siblings have. Noah is also looking for some peace after a difficult divorce. So...
I enjoyed following Chris and Noah's journey. They both have some emotional turmoil to overcome, and their quest for happiness seems to point them in the same direction. The pace of the story was very comfortable, with just the right amount of tension at the right moments. The conflicts in the story were all too real. If only the world outside Whisper Ridge could learn to solve their problems with the same skill.
As always, Sean Crisden's narration was smooth and engaging, and his voice is pleasant. I look forward to the next audiobook in this series.

Historia
As a former SEAL intelligence officer, I’m supposed to be smart. Unfortunately, those smarts don't apply to love. I did a nice thing and took my heartbroken fellow bodyguard out for a Valentine’s dinner. Just us bros. But my plan worked a little too well, and a night that ended with a scorching kiss has turned into the most awkward morning at the office ever. Now we’re working together as bodyguards on a remote mountain movie shoot. And we’re roommates.

This book was my favorite of the series. The pacing is still pretty slow with a few tense moments. Getting to know Malik and Avery is entertaining. I really appreciated Avery's character; he had some serious personal development in this book. This book was very heavy on the steamy scenes and kink. The kink didn't work for me, but it will interest someone who appreciates satin. The narration by Kirt Graves was performed very well, and his voice is pleasant.

Historia
I’m a fixer. As a SEAL chief, I succeeded in impossible no-win situations. Now I’m retired and determined to improve the lives of my former military teammates through our Hollywood security firm. Plus, I get to guard intriguing people like Ambrose Sterling, creator of one of my favorite TV shows. Of course, I want to keep Ambrose safe. When he’s attacked, I leap into action to save him and his scrappy little therapy dog. But my good deed results in a coastal road trip with me pretending to be Ambrose’s boyfriend to keep him out of more danger.

The book started out promising some action, but I didn't quite get what I was looking for. Most of the action was in the bedroom.
The narration by Kirt Graves was performed well, and his voice is pleasant to listwn to. If you are looking for a bodyguard romance with minimal danger, this will be a good read/listen.

An all-new Dresden Files story headlines this urban fantasy short story collection starring the Windy City's favorite wizard. From the Wild West to the bleachers at Wrigley Field, humans, zombies, incubi, and even fey royalty appear, ready to blur the line between friend and foe. In the never-before-published "Zoo Day", Harry treads new ground as a dad, while fan-favorite characters Molly Carpenter, his onetime apprentice, White Council Warden Anastasia Luccio, and even Bigfoot stalk through the pages of more classic tales.

Good stories. Good narration.
Revisado: 04-07-25
If you want some insights into what the Dresden Files characters think about Dresden, this is a good choice.
I enjoyed the stories, but I prefer Dresden as the narrator. Jim Butcher does not have the knack for switching voices in first person narratives. Maggie's perspective sounded like Dresden trying to tell the story the way he thinks a little girl talks. Some of the word choices were just odd.
Worth the read/listen if you are a Dresden Files fan.
