An incredible life
Revisado: 12-08-23
I have been studying ACIM, in my own way, for years now, but until now, I did not know much about the scribes. The story of Bill Thetford is exactly what one would expect from the man who was chosen to co-scribe what I, and many, deem to be the most direct road to salvation.
What an inspiration. Bill’s story has touched my soul, and makes me want to do the work necessary to transcend. Thank you Carol!

Stupidest ending EVER!!
Revisado: 09-28-23
Matt Haig does not include the conversation between the daughter, who gave Prince that fateful walk, and her parents when she comes back home after prince had accidentally bitten her. Matt Haig does not include this conversation because it would have been impossible to write. He describes this girl as the one member in the family who has a psychic connection with the dog, yet she comes home and tells her parents that he bit her intentionally? This makes no sense, and the author knows that.
Haig attempts to give us a surprise ending by having it be the family who chooses to kill the dog, what he doesn’t realize is that he destroyed any believability the book had until that point by making that choice. Why not have the dog die at the hands of the evil next-door neighbor? Because that would have been too predictable. Nothing about this ridiculous ending made any sense to me whatsoever. The dog was a part of the family, We don’t go around randomly killing family members because they misbehave. If that were the case, that entire family would have been euthanized.

Historia
The societies we live in are increasingly making our minds ill, making it feel as though the way we live is engineered to make us unhappy. When Matt Haig developed panic disorder, anxiety, and depression as an adult, it took him a long time to work out the ways the external world could impact his mental health in both positive and negative ways. Notes on a Nervous Planet collects his observations, taking a look at how the various social, commercial, and technological "advancements" that have created the world we now live in can actually hinder our happiness.

The Fricking Singularity…Really?!?
Revisado: 08-05-23
I love Matt Haig’s books, but listening to this one made me want to end it all. To be fair, I only listened to about 20 minutes, but as I felt my heart palpitating more rapidly, and my level of anxiety rise exponentially, I had to turn it off. I will try again when I am not quite so affected by the subject matter. I had just finished “The Comfort Book” and thought this would be more along those lines.

Historia
Beginning in 1979, Penny Kelly experienced a series of life-altering visitations. The visits were designed to show her the future of our planet, keying in on the United States in particular. The messengers were little men in brown robes who would simply appear in her kitchen, her bedroom or living room. At first startled by their appearance, with no frame of reference for the experience, she attempted to ignore them. But the pictures they were showing her ultimately could not be ignored. In Kelly’s book, The Robes, we are shown a vision of our future that is imperative to engage, much of ...

Oodles of Gratitude…
Revisado: 03-16-23
…to Theresa and Mel for the work they are doing on behalf of sensitive souls. A couple of years ago I emailed Theresa after having read her brilliant book, The Sensitive Soul, because it shed so much light in regards to who I am. In this book, there is a little test that helps you determine how sensitive a soul you are. I forced myself to take it twice because I could not believe the outrageous score that I got. Theresa responded to my email with such kindness and vulnerability, that I will be forever grateful to her. Because of that book I understand myself so much better. Thank you Theresa. And now, thank you Mel as well. I stopped this podcast midway to order Mel’s Handbook.

Theresa is Love!
Revisado: 03-08-23
Theresa’s s books have helped me to understand myself much better, and have inspired me to strive to be the best version of this self that I can be. I am grateful to Theresa for all her love, support, and guidance.
I would highly recommend this particular episode to anybody who is trying to better understand her or his monkey mind. Thomas Sterner is very effective in teaching us how to control those thoughts that seem to creep in whether we want them there or not.
I just discovered this podcast yesterday, and I am absolutely hooked. Thanks again to the inimitable Theresa Cheung.

Life Affirming
Revisado: 12-01-22
This is the most helpful and thorough summary of The Course that I have ever come across. I am currently on exercise 324, but I stopped reading the text because, even though a masterpiece from another realm, Jesus forgot to speak as we currently do. The archaic language left me a bit lost at times, yet I realized that it was a piece of such importance that I had to find a way to better understand it. This book has made the concepts of the course accessible to everybody. Thank you Dr Mundy.

When Autobiography of a Yogi first appeared in 1946, it was acclaimed as a landmark work in its field. The New York Times hailed it as "a rare account". Newsweek pronounced it "fascinating". The San Francisco Chronicle declared, "Yogananda presents a convincing case for yoga, and those who 'came to scoff' may remain 'to pray." Today it is still one of the most widely read and respected books ever published on the wisdom of the East.

Mind Bending
Revisado: 09-12-22
The insight Paramahansa Yogananda offers here can be life altering if the reader actually decides to attempt to follow his teachings. Some of the concepts left me so stunned I had to constantly rewind to make sure I’d heard correctly. If you are a person who is working on his or her spiritual growth, this book should be at the top of your list.
As a Westerner, it was also quite surprising just how much emphasis this Indian Paramahansa (enlightened teacher) put into the teachings of Jesus Christ. I am currently doing the workbook in “Course in Miracles”, and I found the fundamental principles of both books to very much overlap.
Paramahansa Yogananda was an extraordinary being who did all he could to make others’ lives more meaningful. I thank him from the bottom of my heart for making his teachings available to the world. Namaste. 🙏🏼
