decent first entryit was a little slow starting out, and a little quick at the end. over all, great first entry into the series!

I really enjoyed this book. I've been really happy about this break from following the main line. my only gripe about this one is because of my wife.

She's an editor, and I once said "that begs the question..." to which are said "that's not begging the question". She was right of course... and now I can't un-hear her every time I hear/read "that begs the question". Mr Bagwell uses that phrase SO OFTEN that I had to stop it a couple of times.

despite that, great read, highly recommend!

it's another Mavericks book! I was skeptical when I first read Paradise, but these are essential reading in the Skippy-verse.

RC Bray is amazing and he is a great reason to listen to this book let alone the story.

this one definitely felt like a more contained story in The series, it wasn't until the very end that a bunch of threads we're dropped for future books.

Tess Irondale is phenomenal as always, never change.

yes, The first chapter is a little bit political based on the current political climate in the States, however, if you can't get behind the core message, maybe you shouldn't read this series? I felt it detected nothing from the book, and helped be a setup for one of the previous threads I mentioned.

8/10 fun read

I love the exforce books. there's usually a lot going on, and I think Craig Alanson has basically perfected the banter between Skippy and Joe at this point. This one seemed like it meandered around a bit too much, like it didn't have a direction, which is somewhat appropriate because of where things are in the story. It had all the merry band of pirates antics and it hit all the things you'd expect from an exforce book, but I found i didn't enjoy it as much (key words here, it's still really enjoyable) until the last hour and a half. My advice to any fans of the series who might feel the same way that I do during the read, Finish the book. don't leave half way through.

RC Bray is a national treasure. He's the best thing about this book, breathing life into the characters. honestly, if I had 3 wishes, one of them would be to have all my books read with his voice and talent. he deserved all of the accolades. especially for this series. I'm not worthy in the presence of your talents sir.

if you're new, and thinking of picking this book up as your first entry into the expeditionary force series. don't. do yourself a favor and start at 1.

I listened to all the books up to this point back to back, and they were all pretty steady with pace and stuff. this one was the same up till the last 3 hours? it gets kicked into overdrive as ends get tied, and new plot points gets dropped. it's honestly a little confusing, cool, but confusing. overall pretty decent, and I like that the author is willing to take a chance on his next arc.

it's a great book, and great litRPG to match. I really like this series for not having people be over powered out of the gate, and done really thought has gone into balancing the charecters it would seem.

I also like this series because its just wholesome. it's a soldier doing his best too try and get back to his family. and it just makes me happy.

if you've liked the series this far, you'll like this book, and Voraces nails it again.

Sequals in trilogies usually fall to the problem of being the middle book. they never quite stand on their own, usually serving as just a bridge from the first book to the third book. while true for this one as well, it's cleverly masked inside an actual story. it's a wild ride from beginning to end, I do feel like T.E.H wrote the first one not knowing if it was going to need a sequal or not, and so sometimes this one feels a little contrived, but he handels it well, and it manages to deliver.

Super great action scenes. they play out like a movie, made all the better by the top notch narration. I'd put Steven Barnett in my top 5 narrators easily, so I'm going to have to go look for some more stuff he's done.

great read, if you liked the first, you'll love the second!

that's the line in the ending credits after RC brays masterful performance of the merry band of pirates. it gave me chills. The book is not perfect, but my god is it ever a ride.

It still suffers a bit from meandering around for the first few hours, but Mr. Alanson seemed like he got to the point much quicker than the last book which I also enjoyed. the stakes seemed more real in this one some how, which had me listening to the book any chance that I got.

9/10 would listen again, if you've listened this far you're going to love this book. if this is your first time picking up the expeditionary force series, do yourself a favor and go listen to them in order.
