Historia
The sedate English countryside can host - or hide - any number of secrets. Frances, the widowed Countess of Harleigh, needs a venue for her sister Lily’s imminent wedding, away from prying eyes. Risings, George Hazleton’s family estate in Hampshire, is a perfect choice, and soon the guests have gathered to enjoy the usual country pursuits - shooting, horse riding, and romantic interludes in secluded gardens. But the bucolic setting harbors a menace, and it’s not simply the arrival of Frances’ socially ambitious mother. Mysterious accidents befall guests and staff alike.

Historia
Birdie Binkowitz is just a little bitter. As a young actress, she was the toast of Hollywood, definitely destined for greatness. Then the dragons had to rise up from their thousand-year slumber, take over Earth and ruin everything. Twenty years later, Birdie is living her worst life in her hometown of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, working at her father's Seed and Feed (and Bagels). Then, a mysterious dragon appears in front of the store seeking her help. He’s got a bone to pick with his fellow dragons–and he wants to hit them where it hurts.

Twists galore

Amusing, fun to listen to, but the narrator grates at times. Worth the listen. Recommended.

Historia
Fourteen-year-old Mona isn't like the wizards charged with defending the city. She can't control lightning or speak to water. Her familiar is a sourdough starter, and her magic only works on bread. She has a comfortable life in her aunt's bakery making gingerbread men dance. But Mona's life is turned upside down when she finds a dead body on the bakery floor. An assassin is stalking the streets of Mona's city, preying on magic folk, and it appears that Mona is his next target. And in an embattled city suddenly bereft of wizards, the assassin may be the least of Mona's worries.

Unique use of magic

A little dull in places and slow to get going. Great ending. Had trouble understanding the narrator at times. Overall, good book.

Historia
Film and TV star Keke Palmer tenderly shares the Ojibwe folk tale of the first dreamcatcher and shows how its message of our connection to the natural world persists to this day. Bedtime stories are narrated by the world’s most celebrated voices and written with no beginning, middle, or end so you don’t stay up to hear what happens next. They're interesting enough to give your mind something to focus on, but delivered in a way that encourages sleep.

Historia
Like Kelly Kapoor on The Office, Mindy is engaged with her Indian heritage to the extent that it is fun and convenient. So apart from a tolerance for spicy foods and an appreciation for Ravi Shankar, Mindy isn’t all that Hindu. Her daughter’s Jewish godfather--TV and film’s B.J. Novak--prompts her to reconsider her religious beliefs and ask herself: How Indian do I want my daughter to be?

It was like an audio version of an episode of her tv show, only purely introspective.

Historia
Historians have long told the story of America’s birth as the triumph of Jefferson’s democratic ideals over the aristocratic intentions of Hamilton. Chernow presents an entirely different man, whose legendary ambitions were motivated not merely by self-interest but by passionate patriotism and a stubborn will to build the foundations of American prosperity and power.

Highly detailed- with bias?
Revisado: 12-26-19
Highly detailed book - easy to drift off at points and miss something. The reader is a bit dull but comes off as stoic when it could have been more exciting, much like listening to a stuffy history professor. Chernow hits all the important points and explains why they are important. He details every person in Hamilton’s life and I feel I do not need to read more biographies but one does question if all these other people are portrayed accurately. If so, Thomas Jefferson was a real jerk. I think he shows both good and bad of Hamilton but I would recommend reading other biographies about other founding fathers if interested in them. Some parts are dull, if you aren’t particularly interested in the topic, like the details of setting up the US treasury or the federalist papers. Overall it’s a good, if long, book with a lot of detail. I want to see the play next.
