Historia
Sam Carlson is a projectionist in small-town Minnesota, where fantasies unspool in glorious black and white—for him and for his sweetheart, college-bound math whiz Sarah Haber. When the Japanese bomb Pearl Harbor, Sam is sent to the Philippines and captured as a POW. Brutalized but unbroken by the Bataan Death March and POW camps, Sam is one of eighteen hundred starved and weakened prisoners herded into the cargo hold of a barbaric hell ship called the Arisan Maru, his survival doubtful.

Absolutely Outstanding Listen
Revisado: 04-22-25
I've listened to 100's of books and countless books on WWII. This is definitely in my top ten. I learned so much about the POW's taken by the Japanese, I learned about the women's WAVE group, and also about the sinking of the ship with the POW's on board. The story was so well told and the narration was top notch. This book brought tears to me. I highly recommend. Most definitely worth a credit.

Historia
Fourteen-year-old Charlie Matters is up to no good, but for a very good reason. Without parents, peerage, or merit, ducking school but barred from actual work, he steals what he needs, living day-to-day until he’s old enough to enlist to fight the Germans. After barely surviving the Blitz, Charlie knows there’s no telling when a falling bomb might end his life.

A New Look at WWII
Revisado: 04-19-25
I loved the different narrators! That really added so much depth to the story. I really felt like I got to know each character. The story is different from all the other WWII books I've read, but ultimately the same as they all shared in the grief and loss of that time period. I highly recommend this book. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Historia
Nesta Archeron has always been prickly-proud, swift to anger, and slow to forgive. And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she's struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits. Worse, she can't seem to move past the horrors of the war with Hybern and all she lost in it. The one person who ignites her temper more than any other is Cassian, the battle-scarred warrior whose position in Rhysand and Feyre's Night Court keeps him constantly in Nesta's orbit. But her temper isn't the only thing Cassian ignites.

Exceptional Book!
Revisado: 12-22-24
This could absolutely be a movie. This whole series has been good, but I think this was my favorite book. I really hope there is a follow up, or 4!
The sex scenes are a little too much, very graphic. So definitely need to listen to this with headphones on. Overall, I am anxious for more!!

Not for me!
Revisado: 05-18-24
I like a lot of different books and genres, and don't mind harsh language ,usually, but wow was this over the top. I was really happy when this was finished. The narrator was hard to get into when she changed characters because they all sounded the same. Definitely don't recommend if you can't handle the harsh language!

I absolutely loved this book. Such a sweet story and I could feel all the family conflict, but also the love that binds siblings together. And of course, you can never go wrong with Juila Whelan!! She's the best narrator.

Historia
Hell comes to Southern California every October. It rides in on searing Santa Ana winds that blast at near hurricane force, igniting voracious wildfires. Master thief Danny Cole longs for the flames. A tsunami of fire is exactly what he needs to pull off a daring crime and avenge a fallen friend. As the most devastating firestorms in Los Angeles’ history scorch the hills of Malibu, relentless arson investigator Walter Sharpe and his wild card of a new partner, Andrew Walker, a former US marshal, suspect that someone set the massive blazes intentionally, a terrifying means to an unknown end.

Sweet Surprise!
Revisado: 02-28-24
I was very pleasantly surprised with this new series starter. It was actually quite funny, along with being a good story. I'll definitely check out the next one. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I personally like longer books. But definitely worth it as I really enjoyed it.

Historia
Private detective Olivia Welles hasn’t been to her hometown since childhood, not since the night she died. She has no memory of the world before the car crash, or of coming back to life in the morgue. But now, years later, when fellow survivor Bonnie Ray calls from a Kansas jail begging for help, Olivia feels the tug of a dark and unremembered past. Bonnie looks guilty of murdering her young son—the third child to die under suspicious circumstances. Intrigued and seeking closure, Olivia agrees to investigate.

So Ridiculous!
Revisado: 02-28-24
This book was mediocre at best. I forced myself to finish it. The story is so unrealistic and unbelievable, that most of the time I was rolling my eyes. I'd skip this one and find something better!

Not Worth a Credit
Revisado: 09-07-23
I love all, or so I thought, of Irina Shapiro's books. This was just ok. The story was slow and redundant in the telling of it. It all comes together at the end, but unless I give a spoiler, I was extremely disappointed with the reason they were left on the island!! So over this reason for everything now a days!!! I wish I had gotten this as a daily deal instead of using a credit.

Horrible Narrator!!!
Revisado: 07-26-23
The overall story was great, especially towards the end. But the narrator was horrible. He made female voices for male characters, he made the 4 year old son sound like a toddler. One character voice he did sounded like Frosty the Snowman. If they redid this book with a new narrator, it would be a lot better.
