Disappointing and sad
Revisado: 02-22-25
I had just finished listening to the river we remember, so chose this for a free listen on Audible, but sadly it does not compare at all.
The storyline is filled with religious content and sadness with a lot of death.
Quite unbearable although I finished itjust because

There were parts of this book that were quite gory and upsetting, but overall it was wonderfully written and performed.

Historia
Daphne always loved the way her fiancé Peter told their story. How they met (on a blustery day), fell in love (over an errant hat), and moved back to his lakeside hometown to begin their life together. He really was good at telling it…right up until the moment he realized he was actually in love with his childhood best friend Petra. Which is how Daphne begins her new story.

I wish I had just returned this book.
It’s shallow with underdeveloped characters who are undesirable at best.

Historia
Justin has a curse, and thanks to a Reddit thread, it's now all over the internet. Every woman he dates goes on to find their soul mate the second they break up. When a woman slides into his DMs with the same problem, they come up with a plan: They'll date each other and break up. Their curses will cancel each other’s out, and they’ll both go on to find the love of their lives. It’s a bonkers idea… and it just might work.

When the pandemic hits, Kristofer is forced to shutter his successful restaurant in Reykjavik, sending him into a spiral of uncertainty, even as his memory seems to be failing. But an uncanny bolt from the blue—a message from Miko Nakamura, a woman whom he’d known in the sixties when they were students in London—both inspires and rattles him, as he is drawn inexorably back into a love story that has marked him for life.

Awful reader
Revisado: 05-19-24
I love this story, but it was very difficult to listen to the reader, as he would fade in and out, and I was constantly adjusting the volume to hear what he was saying when he was speaking for the woman.
It was very distracting, and took a lot away from the story

Historia
Laurel Lake held the title America’s Friendliest Town for seventeen years running, and friendly was just what I needed right now. Unfortunately, friendly wasn’t the welcome I got when I arrived. Instead, I got Fox Cassidy. My tall, dark, and burly neighbor, who grunted at me instead of saying hello. Okay, so I might’ve had his mailbox in my hands the first time we met. And it might’ve been a little crushed after removing it from under my tire. And I might’ve needed his help breaking into the place I was staying in after the key broke off in the lock.

Predictable
Revisado: 02-03-24
I’m not sure why there were so many five star reviews for this book.
The performers were excellent, but the storyline was so predictable.
it was missing substance and much of it made no sense or was simply unbelievable.
I would only recommend this book if you are looking for something completely mindless that doesn’t take up very much time

Terrible! The narration is bad as well as this shallow and juvenile bantering story that created nothing but dislike for all of the characters.

Sam and Sadie—two college friends, often in love, but never lovers—become creative partners in a dazzling and intricately imagined world of video game design, where success brings them fame, joy, tragedy, duplicity, and, ultimately, a kind of immortality. It is a love story, but not one you have heard before.
