Historia
Here are the thrills, grandeur, and unabashed fun of the Greek myths, stylishly retold by Stephen Fry. The legendary writer, actor, and comedian breathes life into ancient tales, from Pandora's box to Prometheus's fire, and transforms the adventures of Zeus and the Olympians into emotionally resonant and deeply funny stories, without losing any of their original wonder. Learned notes from the author offer rich cultural context. This volume is a doorway into a captivating world.

I bought Heroes purely on reviews. At the beginning he states that it is a sequel to Mythos, so I went ahead and bought that too. (Those reviews were stellar!)
I am SOOOO excited to jump right into Heroes! The narrating, the storytelling....Greek Mythology has never been better!!

The scoop on the narrator
Revisado: 03-12-21
As always, I love Liane Moriarty’s books.
Heather Wilds does have the perfect dry sarcasm that the books deserve. My only complaint is: why not have an Australian accent with a book based in Australia? It’s another reason why I love all the older books most—the accent! It was hard to make the switch between narrators, but the stories are all so great it’s worth it!

Historia
Dale Maharidge’s father, like many World War II veterans, never talked about “the good war”. There was just one clue to his dad’s experience as a US Marine - a portrait with a close friend that hung permanently in their home. In The Dead Drink First, Dale, now a Pulitzer Prize-winning author, recounts his 18-year quest to find and repatriate the missing remains of his dad’s buddy, Herman Walter Mulligan, 73 years after he was killed in action.

I got this book while I was waiting for my points to renew. I enjoy WW2 historical fiction so I knew I would like this. But it was a whole different perspective I hadn’t read before. I have another facet of appreciation for our grandfathers. Really well done!

Historia
From New York Times best seller Pepper Winters comes one of her best tales yet... "What do you do when you meet your soul mate? No wait...that's too easy. What do you do when you meet your soul mate and have to spend a lifetime loving him in secret? I'll tell you what you do. You lie." Ren was eight when he learned that love doesn't exist - that the one person who was supposed to adore him only cared how much he was worth. His mother sold him and for two years, he lived in terror. But then...he ran.

Use the right accents!
Revisado: 02-09-19
An interesting story. 3 stars. A little repetitive. 3 stars. But the thing that gives it 2 stars (too generous?) is that when a British person writes a book and uses words like “poppet,” “rucksack,” “lounge & corridor—for living room and hallway,” and a number of other words WHY are the people in the story American & SOUTHERN??? It is utterly annoying to have the combination. Some pronunciations were off as well...

Historia
A young, naïve but ultimately courageous hedge knight, Ser Duncan the Tall towers above his rivals—in stature if not experience. Tagging along is his diminutive squire, a boy called Egg—whose true name is hidden from all he and Dunk encounter. Though more improbable heroes may not be found in all of Westeros, great destinies lay ahead for these two . . . as do powerful foes, royal intrigue, and outrageous exploits. Featuring more than 160 all-new illustrations by Gary Gianni, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a must-have collection that proves chivalry isn’t dead—yet.

The narrator....

Great story. The narrator though: do all knights sound like immature muppet-like jesters? The only reason I kept listening was for the story...the narration was almost unbearable.

Ignored the narrator for a GREAT story
Revisado: 01-17-16
If you could sum up The Wolfe in three words, what would they be?
Awesome! Bad narrator.
What did you like best about this story?
Just an all round good story with like able characters
Would you be willing to try another one of Guy Veryzer’s performances?
No
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Laughing and crying at the total over dramatization of the narrator's voice. Loved the easy relationships in this book! Great characters and story line!
Any additional comments?
Glad to see others in the series have another narrator. I will keep listening!

Wow! Everyone MUST read (or listen to) this book!!
Revisado: 11-20-15
What an amazing book! I grew up in a town half on the Rez, so I thought I knew a little bit about the Native plight. But this story threw in a first hand perspective that no text book, or even 2nd hand observation, can possibly deliver. If we ALL read this book, we would gain more compassion for the individual Native struggle as well as the possibility of eliminating the not so "nomadic" mentality that seems to keep Natives on the Rez. I was enlightened, to say the least. I really wish my entire school could have read this book.
Aside from the educational benefits of this book, the storytelling was phenomenal! I am SO glad I LISTENED to it! Sherman Alexie's perfectly Native sing-song voice added an extra emotion and depth that you can't get from reading! This story was meant to be listened to; in light of Native stories being mostly of oral origins Alexie's ancestors would be impressed and proud of his amazing skill as a storyteller! He nailed this one!!!
The character development was deep, the humor was spectacular, and the tragedy was very real. I can't say enough great things about this book. I hope people who might be hesitating to buy this audiobook just go ahead and get it...they absolutely won't be disappointed!
As for the topic of masturbation: well, I guess we have to talk about it with our kids at some point. I certainly wouldn't let it stop me from getting this book and sharing it with my kids. They deserve to get a REAL human story on this subject. Finally.
