Funny, Poignant and Insightful
Revisado: 04-24-15
If you could sum up The Rosie Effect in three words, what would they be?
Bloody Brilliant Read.
What does Dan O'Grady bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He brings to wonderful deadpan life the voice of an esteemed Geneticist with Aspergers, living in a world that doesn't always make sense to him but who is so sincere and so well educated and so well intentioned that he is instantly loveable.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I laughed out loud many, many times reading this. As someone with an autistic teenager in the family, it was an acute and tender observation of this social 'disability' that was sweet and hilariously accurate.
Any additional comments?
Highly recommend both books in this series to anyone who needs a laugh. That it offers acute insight into Aspergers is a bonus.

Historia
Once in a generation a woman comes along who changes everything. Tina Fey is not that woman, but she met that woman once and acted weird around her.
Before 30 Rock, Mean Girls, and 'Sarah Palin', Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: a recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true.

Funny, quirky and very, very enjoyable.
Revisado: 12-15-14
What made the experience of listening to Bossypants the most enjoyable?
Tina Fey's delivery is perfect, she even includes audiobooks 'insider' jokes. She writes in a series of mini-essays on different topics and covers everything from children to what it's REALLY like on photo shoots to her days on Saturday Night Live. It is lively, entertaining and very funny.
What did you like best about this story?
Tina Fey.
Which character – as performed by Tina Fey – was your favorite?
Too hard to pick a favourite. Her overall performance was just brilliant.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It made me laugh out loud on many, many occasions. Particularly, the essay about her child that began with 'First Lord, no tattoos...'
Any additional comments?
If you need an audio book that's easy to slot in and out of without losing any kind of 'plot', this is perfect. If you need something that's wonderfully written, well observed and laugh out loud funny in places, this is perfect. If you like Tina Fey, this is perfect. Even if you don't, I kind of think she will grow on you. I love this audio.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. It's interesting and certainly entertaining but the story was a little weaker than her others.
Any additional comments?
Entertaining enough for a book in a well developed series but not the greatest/strongest story. Enough to keep someone hooked on the characters going. Well read though I have always hated her characterisation of the 'Bones' character. It's just such an over the top East End accent (Cockney) and it's not authentic at all and I find that a bit annoying. Other than that it's fine though not likely to win any awards.

Fantastic!
Revisado: 07-28-13
What made the experience of listening to Dead Ever After the most enjoyable?
The absolutely fantastic narration. I hate it when a good book is ruined by terrible or flat narration. This narrator reads all of the Sookie Stackhouse stories and she does it beautifully. Truly enjoyable to listen to.
What did you like best about this story?
Finally Sookie Stackhouse finds love with a man that is truly worthy of her and who has honestly loved her since the beginning.
Any additional comments?
Fantastic end to a wonderful, imaginative and sexy series. Can't wait to read what Charlaine Harris comes up with next.

Would you consider the audio edition of An Ice Cold Grave to be better than the print version?
I haven't read the print version but I would after listening to the audio version.
What was one of the most memorable moments of An Ice Cold Grave?
The moment when she realises who the real murderer is. Chilling! Also the moment when she realises how many boys are dead and how they died.
Any additional comments?
A great read with many surprises. Well read and very entertaining.

Historia
In a world of witches, daemons and vampires the fragile balance of peace is unravelling. Diana and Matthew's forbidden love has broken the laws dividing creatures. To discover the manuscript which holds their hope for the future, they must now travel back to the past. When Diana Bishop, descended from a line of powerful witches, discovered a significant alchemical manuscript in the Bodleian Library, she sparked a struggle in which she became bound to long-lived vampire Matthew Clairmont. Now the coexistence of witches, daemons, vampires and humans is dangerously threatened.

Exciting & Absorbing Book
Revisado: 03-19-13
Would you listen to Shadow of Night again? Why?
Absolutely. Partly because the story is a little complex (though in a very good way!) and partly because I enjoyed Jennifer Ikeda's reading so much. It's part two of A Discovery of Witches and I highly recommend both of these titles if you are looking for a good listen that will keep you engaged and excited.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Diana the heroine, she's intelligent, fiesty and she's got many, many unusual talents. Who wouldn't want to be her? Second would have to be Isabeau - the vampire matriarch, brought to glorious life by Jennifer Ikeda's amazing characterisation.
Have you listened to any of Jennifer Ikeda’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No but honestly, I would listen to any other performances of hers. She is absolutely amazing. To carry so many different characters, male and female, young and old, to change accents too - really brilliant reading and characterisation. Highly recommend her, she really made the story come to life for me.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Absolutely.
Any additional comments?
Brilliant books, excellently read. Very well worth your time.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
If you've been following the series, it's hard not to be addicted. This is a series of wonderful stories with a feisty and funny heroine with a special gift. Johanna Parker is an amazing reader and totally brings Sookie Stackhouse to glorious technicolour life. I really, really enjoyed listening to this and all the other books in this series and I highly recommend them.

Fun Journey Through The Supernatural World
Revisado: 07-30-12
Where does A Discovery of Witches rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is one of the best audio books I've listened to. Second only to the True Blood series for content and performance by the narrator.
What did you like best about this story?
I enjoyed the premise of the story - a story about a historian and witch who doesn't want to use her (immense) powers meets enigmatic vampire and sets about changing supernatural laws whilst trying to discover the whereabouts of an important manuscript that could change all of their lives forever.
Characters are interesting - storyline is intruiging and even though it can be a little predicable in places, it's unusual enough the rest of the time to keep your interest.
Best part about this story so far though is the awesome narration. The narrator is an amazing actor and does flawless accents (including English and French!) which really adds depth and flavour to the book.
Really, really enjoyable to listen to! I recommend this book and am looking forward to listening to the sequel.
Which character – as performed by Jennifer Ikeda – was your favorite?
My favourite character so far is, strangely, Isabeau. Small part (as yet) but I just loved the accented characterisation.
Who was the most memorable character of A Discovery of Witches and why?
The most memorable character for me is definitely the protagonist, Diana. As the story develops and she discovers more and more about her powers, she becomes more interesting. She's feisty, independent, very intelligent and a very powerful witch. In a supernatural story, it doesn't get much better.
Any additional comments?
Love the book and looking forward to the next installment. Read it. It's lots of fun!
