very simplistic and naive

The character itself wasn't horrible. the story and the plot was the only thing that was coherent throughout the entire series. individually the lit RPG aspects and crafting are extremely simplistic. The world building is naive and also simplistic which is okay I guess for a younger generation but that means that it can't hold water towards mediocre or better titles within the genre written for adults.

Nice ideas very poor execution

There are some nice ideas that could have been explored much better. Every moment of the book though is arduous and pedious together Narrator completely Mulligan's past any climatic scene. Redcon's way through anything where a skill is needed and completely bypasses any tension. The universe itself doesn't work at a fundamental level. Because magic is so rare yet common enough. That everybody has magic keys for everyday items. And these elite assassins are basically magic vampires.

Waiting for the good parts

so far a C level entry into LITRPG. waiting to see what puts this story in a better grade. Author rambles about issues and never uses the content. MC is an archer. you'd hope the Author did some research on basic types of arrowheads instead of calling it "bullet like". It's either a modern field/practice tip. or a Bodkin? Booring levelups to pad pages. Ohh, you have 5 options. why are you reading the 4 crappy ones, just to pick the 5th, EVERY TIME. Protagonist, hopefuly develops more as a challenge. Only engages with MC one time. (unless it's Richard, then it's Twice). Way too much backstory to describe a sociopath for Protag. No story between characters to speak of worth mentioning. The only decent relationship/interatction is between Protag and Suicide Smith.

for the most part you could remove many of the game mechanics and have essentially the same story. game mechanics are included just to fill the lit RPG niche. with seven stats and getting five points per level having 50 stat points at level 10 higher than a level 1 apparently means nothing since the main character doesn't assign any stat points until Level 14. there's multiple other examples, basically the game mechanics are there as a simplified way to explain different abilities but not actually affecting the mechanics or anything of the story itself. the character was level one stats no class A Warhammer suddenly does 25% of the first major boss's Health pool in one strike. this is after several other characters took multiple rounds of combat spells and attacks to get it down to 60%

author uses a lot of game terms but they're meaningless to the story. he does talk about combat in terms of health files and possibly sometimes he mentions Damage Done by an attack but really it could be removed and you'd have the same story. the part where it's game lit and then it merges into well merges is something other Russian authors have done this one's a bit interesting by having all three worlds. real world players are caricatures at best cardboard characters. all of them are kids. I'm a 49 year old gamer. I narrate this with text to speech so my grammar sucks. I apologize afterwards

Narrator sounds like he is reading this to his toddlers for bed time. He cannot pronounce AT-trib-ute for shit (not at-TRIB-ute).

The real kicker is an hour of talking about mutilating MC's penis. a god damn hour.

too many oxymorons

too many tropes. new fish in prison, framed for crime, makes buddy with tough guy, hot girl becomes redemption. not consistent within the world he created. why make an entire enforcement group shield/hammer, if your just going to make them into shield tank, dodge tank/ dps, and...ranged dps. main antagonist becomes final boss. without spoilers, MC should never had a chance at being warden if antagonist had a brain. the position they hold requires that brain.

overall the story isn't horrible. give it a C-. I've read much worse but it's not that great either. The major conflict is over a king's quest over collecting MacGuffins.

MC gets rare class. lets him do anything. he defeats BBEG bcause of it.

token mentions of real life. token mention of relationship with parents. supporting characters are one step at best from cardboard. main female character is acquaintance from RL.

glad it was part of xmas sale.
