Historia
For centuries, the vineyards at Château Renard have depended on the talent of their vine witches, whose spells help create the world-renowned wine of the Chanceaux Valley. Then the skill of divining harvests fell into ruin when sorcière Elena Boureanu was blindsided by a curse. Now, after breaking the spell that confined her to the shallows of a marshland and weakened her magic, Elena is struggling to return to her former life. And the vineyard she was destined to inherit is now in the possession of a handsome stranger.

Not what I expected
Revisado: 01-24-25
This book had a lot of plot twists that I honestly wasn't expecting. I thought I knew where it was going...and then it wasn't going there haha. I really enjoyed this audio book and the performance was very nice.

Surprisingly good
Revisado: 01-07-25
I was concerned when I started this book that the voice actor was not going to perform in a way that would keep my attention. I was wrong. I enjoyed his performance very much!! This story is captivating and speaks to the many tragedies of what was done to the indigenous people the America's. I appreciated the accuracy of many facts about the Apache people (as confirmed by an Apache friend of mine). The many different personalities and walks of life in the characters made this book intriguing. It also gave the expedition the feel of a rag-tag group of outcasts...which are easy to endear to your heart as a listener. Overall, I recommend this book and have enjoyed the journey it took me on.

Historia
In 1692, Bridget Bishop was hanged as a witch. Two hundred years later, her legacy lives on in the scions of two very different lines: one dedicated to using their powers to heal and help women in need; the other, determined to grasp power for themselves by whatever means necessary. This clash will play out in the fate of Annis, a young woman in Gilded Age New York who finds herself a pawn in the family struggle for supremacy. She'll need to claim her own power to save herself - and resist succumbing to the darkness that threatens to overcome them all.

This was surprisingly incredible. I was not expecting to be so thoroughly enthralled by this story. I could not stop listening. The writing is so well done. The way characters are described brings to mind such vivid imagery. The performance is superb. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys classical literature, mystery, and well rounded plots. I was highly satisfied with the outcome of this tale.

She must choose from three treasures that sing to her; a beautiful writing slope, a mourning brooch of heartbreaking detail, and a gorgeous gem-set hat pin. All call her, but the wrong one could take her on a mission other than that which she must address first, and the stakes could not be higher. Xanthe must follow the treasure that will take her to him if he is not to be lost forever.

Such a fantastic series
Revisado: 05-17-23
I am SO sad there are no more books in this series at present. I binge listened to these 4 books and was so eager to disappear into the stories. I loved the combination of characters from another series in this book. I also enjoyed the slow burn between Xanthe and Liam throughout this entire series. As always, Marisa Calin is stellar. I love her performance in every book she does. You simply forget that you are listening to one woman. I really hope there is a 5th book in the works to surprise us all with.

I'm excited to have started this series! The historical aspect is wonderful, and the plot is engaging. I was feeling Outlander vibes. As always, the performance is impeccable. I liked that this story was a little less predictable at times than some of Paula B.'s other works. I can't wait to start the next part of the series!

Historia
Walt thinks he might find the answers he's looking for among the ruins of an old Native American boarding school—an institution designed to strip Native children of their heritage. He has been haunted by the image of the Fort Pratt Industrial Indian Training School ever since he first saw a faded postcard picturing a hundred boys in uniform, in front of a large, ominous building—a postcard that was given to him by Jimmy Lane, the father of Jeanie One Moon.

Fantastic!!
Revisado: 02-22-23
I have always been a fan of the Longmire books that take on a supernatural theme. I don't want to spoil anything, but I will say that a character I hold dear reappears in this book, and it was so good to have him back for a while. I absolutely LOVE the fact that this book takes place in different times and dimensions. I could not stop listening to this one, and I applaud the author. As always, George G. was stellar. I adore this series, and It was very fun to have a book that was so different than the others, yet still the best of Walt and his story.
