Historia
Titus Pullus, the hero of the 10th Legion and the Marching With Caesar series, tells his story from the very beginning of his life, starting with his relationship with his father, how his friendship with Vibius Domitius began, and how their burning ambition to join the Legions was helped by a veteran nicknamed Cyclops. Enlisting in the 10th Legion, raised in 61 B.C. by Gaius Julius Caesar, Birth of the 10th Legion recounts the first campaign ever conducted by Julius Caesar as a commander...

What disappointed you about Marching with Caesar?
The way is is told is stilted and drawn out. The prologue is a dictionary of Latin and Roman terms which really put me off at first. It could be done in the story as it is in many other books of this kind.
Has Marching with Caesar turned you off from other books in this genre?
No
Would you be willing to try another one of Simon Burdett’s performances?
No

St Mary's is back and is facing a battle to survive in this, the fourth installment of the Chronicles. Max and Leon are re-united and looking forward to a peaceful lifetime together. But, sadly, they don't even make it to lunchtime. The action races from 17th century London to Ancient Egypt and from Pompeii to 14th century Southwark as they're pursued up and down the timeline.

I loved the whole series. Lots of fun and humour with some historical background included. It's easy to suspends disbelief in order to go along with such a likeable cast of characters.

Historia
This eagerly awaited fifth book in John Maddox Roberts's Edgar-nominated historical mystery series once again takes the reader back to the Rome of Julius Caesar and the Roman Senator Decius Caecilius Metellus the Younger. Decius has won himself a reputation as both an investigator and, most unfortunately, a bit of a playboy. Having been banished by his family for sometimes embarrassing activities to a rather leisurely lifestyle on Rhodes, he is puzzled to be suddenly and unexpectedly summoned home to assist in an investigation.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, if they were a fan of historical detective fiction.
Any additional comments?
This series gets better with every book. I have just finished book 5. I love the historical detail and the characters are becoming more interesting as they are met in each book.

Revisado: 03-23-14
If you could sum up Bryant & May and the Memory of Blood in three words, what would they be?
Another great Bryant and May mystery
What other book might you compare Bryant & May and the Memory of Blood to and why?
The other Bryant and May books - all have mysteries that reveal themselves slowly, the wonderfully eccentric Bryant and all the odd information that comes with his character. The history and the love for the scene and the players is a constant in this series.
What about Tim Goodman’s performance did you like?
Using different voices for the characters, adds to rather than intruding into the story.
Any additional comments?
Its one that I can't stop listening to.

Historia
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Romance, mystery, humour and horror
Revisado: 04-23-13
This was a great story. It was a tiny bit slow to start, then it unfolded through different stages with lots of interesting ideas and an undertone of suspense. It was very easy to visualise and would make a great mini series in the SF vein of Torchwood or Dr Who.
It was also light and easy to listen to, with the interaction between characters providing lots of wry humour. I liked it and could not put it down towards the end.

Among the top 5
What did you like best about this story?
I liked the different characters and the way they each looked at what was happening from their own point of view. I liked the gentle philosophy. The characters were interesting and sympathetic. History has all but forgotten.... In the spring of 1708, an invading Jacobite fleet of French and Scottish soldiers nearly succeeded in landing the exiled James Stewart in Scotland to reclaim his crown. Settling herself in the shadow of Slains Castle, she creates a heroine named for one of her own ancestors and starts to write. But then she discovers her novel is more fact than fiction....

A bit drawn out
Revisado: 02-03-12
Would you try another book from Susanna Kearsley and/or Rosalyn Landor?
Probably not
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
Information about that period in Scotland's history was very interesting.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Rosalyn Landor?
Probably not
Was The Winter Sea worth the listening time?
I ended up skipping a lot of it as the story seemed so drawn out. I was more interested in the modern day love story than the earlier one.
Any additional comments?
This is a romance which is not my interest area. However the history was very good.
