Waiting Impatiently For The Sequel
Revisado: 04-24-25
All in all, a pretty decent, interesting story. Scott Brick, naturally, sells it well. It has a nice mix of characters and motivations. Just as I was really interested in what happens next, it ended. Although I'm not a big sci-fi reader, I'm looking forward to the sequel.

Historia
Duchess Day Radley is a 13-year-old self-proclaimed outlaw. Rules are for other people. She is the fierce protector of her five-year-old brother, Robin, and the parent to her mother, Star, a single mom incapable of taking care of herself, let alone her two kids. Walk has never left the coastal California town where he and Star grew up. He may have become the chief of police, but he’s still trying to heal the old wound of having given the testimony that sent his best friend, Vincent King, to prison decades before. And he's in overdrive protecting Duchess and her brother.

Currently, Audible regrettably only has two of the five books by Chris Whitaker. I immediately got this one after reading the other. I was definitely not disappointed. I highly recommend them both! Hopefully, others of his will be available soon.

Revisado: 02-01-25
This captivating narrative presents a complex tapestry of intertwined storylines. With over 250 chapters, the narrative maintains an engaging pace, drawing readers into the main storyline swiftly. As the story unfolds, the secondary arcs gradually develop, contributing to the overall narrative’s richness. The culmination of these elements provides a satisfying resolution, yet the journey to that conclusion is an immersive experience that will captivate readers from beginning to end.

Historia
12 Strong is the dramatic account of a small band of Special Forces soldiers who secretly entered Afghanistan following 9/11 and rode to war on horses against the Taliban. Outnumbered 40 to one, they pursued the enemy army across the mountainous Afghanistan terrain and, after a series of intense battles, captured the city of Mazar-i-Sharif. The bone-weary American soldiers were welcomed as liberators as they rode into the city. Then the action took a wholly unexpected turn.

Revisado: 01-29-25
Every American should read this book. It's a complete story of a small group of paramilitary CIA operatives going into Afghanistan just a month following 9/11/2001. They accomplished more in a month than thousands of our military could in years! They communicated with the people and created friendships and loyalties. They then were able to assist in organizing the people against the Taliban.
Yes, there are skirmishes and an all-out war. There are descriptions of the atrocities done by the Taliban. Descriptions of the fighting are told. None of this was done in gratuitous Hollywood style. What is depicted is only told to describe the circumstances they found themselves in, and to emphasize the stresses they were faced with.
If you read this book, you will certainly feel like a proud American just to know we have people like this our country can depend upon. Unfortunately, part of the pride comes from learning the price our front-line patriots are fully willing to pay. Sleep well at night and say a prayer for our heroes.

A thoroughly engaging biography of an incredible band who was so impressive they became favorably compared to the Beatles. Ironically, they were discovered by the same Fab Four’s roadie, Mal Evans, then mentored by Paul McCartney. Subsequently they were hired to session for all four Beatles members. Ultimately, they were controlled in release by the entire Apple Corps Ltd. empire. The group even started to surpass commercially the Fab Four’s solo successes with their major worldwide hits such as “Come And Get It,” “No Matter What,” “Day After Day,” “Baby Blue” and a ...

Well Researched Data. Distracting Narration.
Revisado: 01-01-25
The information presented in this book seems to have been well researched. Unfortunately, the Virtual Voice narration was distracting.
To turn an untrained Virtual Voice loose on the text of a book is irresponsible. The voice was pleasing, and with a little advanced training it would be difficult to detect from a human reader. The correct pronunciation of surnames and the recognition of date years as opposed to general numbers should be taught so their pronunciations would be correct when read. Yes, this can be done, customized for each module, book in this case.

Historia
Seth Hubbard is a wealthy man dying of lung cancer. He trusts no one. Before he hangs himself from a sycamore tree, Hubbard leaves a new, handwritten, will. It is an act that drags his adult children, his Black maid, and Jake into a conflict as riveting and dramatic as the murder trial that made Brigance one of Ford County's most notorious citizens, just three years earlier. The second will raises far more questions than it answers. Why would Hubbard leave nearly all of his fortune to his maid? Had chemotherapy and painkillers affected his ability to think clearly?

Where It All Began
Revisado: 12-08-24
This is John Grisham's first novel. Incredibly, it took years before a publisher wanted it. If you are a Grisham fan be sure you read this. If you're not already a Grisham fan read this and you will be. One common thread to all of his novels is his stand against the death penalty. He is not against crime and punishment, just "legal" killing.

Historia
It was summer in the mountains when five small children vanished from their nursery school picnic. The heat was stifling that day, the tinkle of an ice-cream van in the air.... Three-and-a-half years later, in the dead of winter, the children are returned to their families...one by one. All except for Ivy - the granddaughter of Homicide Detective Kate Wakeland. The other four children say Ivy is dead.

Another Tayloriffic Novel
Revisado: 07-22-24
This is the fourth novel of Ms. Taylor's I have read. They each have been entirely different standalone stories. All have been excellent. I'm amazed by how intricate her stories are and each have been completely new. They all have their own interesting characters too. She certainly has an amazing mind to be able to do this. This novel is book one of a series she is creating. Now she will have some characters and a setting already established. I can't wait to read future stories that she will be able to leverage from here. I'm sure they will be wonderful. If you haven't read any of Ms. Taylor's books it's time to come aboard!

It’s 1984, and life has changed beyond recognition. Airstrip One, formerly known as Great Britain, is a place where Big Brother is always watching, and nobody can hide. Except, perhaps, for Winston Smith. Whilst working at the Ministry of Truth, rewriting history, he secretly dreams of freedom. And in a world where love and sex are forbidden, where it’s hard to distinguish between friend and foe, he meets Julia and O’Brien and vows to rebel.

It's Not Your Father's George Orwell
Revisado: 07-17-24
I'll it up quickly. This production shares the title of George Orwell's version, and it includes the Big Brother character. It also shares the very general premise. Everything else is someone else's story practically from the beginning to the end. This was not done inexpensively. The cast consists of first string actors. The London orchestra performs the soundtrack. It is one very high production. It's just an extreme version of Orwell's premise. Artistic license to the nth degree.
