THE Book on Magic Johnson!
Revisado: 01-10-24
This is the definitive book on Magic Johnson.
An entertaining and enlightening exploration of all aspects of his life that shows Magic to be so much more than one of the greatest basketball players ever.
I spent 23 years photographing the NBA for Boston during his era, but this book was a revelation to me. I thought that I knew all that I needed to know about Magic Johnson. Turns out that I didn't know much until I read Magic.
You will not be disappointed. After you finish Magic, I'm sure that you won't need any prodding to seek out other NBA themed books by Roland Lazenby.

Historia
Before primetime ESPN coverage, lucrative branding deals like Air Jordans, and $40 million annual player salaries, there was the NBA of the 1970s and 1980s. Enter Dan Shaughnessy, then the beat reporter for The Boston Globe who covered the Boston Celtics every day from 1982 to1986. It was a time when reporters travelled with professional teams—flying the same commercial airlines, riding the same buses, and staying in the same hotels. Drawing on unprecedented access and personal experiences, Shaughnessy takes us inside the legendary Larry Bird-led Celtics teams.

Brings the Bird era back in high relief
Revisado: 02-12-22
I was the Celtics photographer for this period and Dan's book brings back rich memories.
He adds much that I was not aware of and fills in lots of details not commonly known.
It's an entertaining and informative narrative of a VERY special time with colorful characters and, arguably, the greatest team in NBA history.

Historia
On Winston Churchill’s first day as prime minister, Adolf Hitler invaded Holland and Belgium. Poland and Czechoslovakia had already fallen, and the Dunkirk evacuation was just two weeks away. For the next 12 months, Hitler would wage a relentless bombing campaign, killing 45,000 Britons. It was up to Churchill to hold his country together and persuade President Franklin Roosevelt that Britain was a worthy ally - and willing to fight to the end. In The Splendid and the Vile, Erik Larson shows how Churchill taught the British people "the art of being fearless."

Larson delivers as would be expected
Revisado: 09-07-20
Larson is a master at authoring nonfiction that is as compelling as any fiction.
In listening to this book, one cannot help but mentally dart back and forth from these World War 2 days to the present and compare and contrast
