Locke worked hard to become a pro gamer, getting paid to do something he loves. But with the dream comes some unexpected challenges. The demand is overwhelming and it gets lonely. Adam works in the historical district, where he gets to dress up and entertain tourists. He loves to play games casually as a way to relax and often sets up at Randy’s Diner. The last person Adam expected to walk into the diner was his favorite streamer.

Excellent narration by Sam Stark!
I loved this book when I read it, and I loved it as much on audio. Sam did such a great job of bringing two of my favorite characters to life. Adam and Locke are two very different men, but their differences are what makes them work. Though Locke is a famous streamer online, he’s very shy and reserved in real life. While Adam is happy to be in the background online, he’s very outgoing in the real world. Together they are sweet and steamy, and I loved Duckie’s representation of two trans men who have different approaches (Adam chooses not to go the route of HT or surgery, Locke does). I think it’s so important that we recognize that being trans is different for everyone, and there’s no wrong way.
And this had me shouting “suck a duck” plenty 🤣🤣 IYKYK

Sir Horley Comewithers isn’t particularly interested in getting married, especially when his match is a perfectly respectable young woman. Sir Horley is, after all, extravagantly gay. But he’s resigned to a fate there’s no point resisting—until a dear friend does it for him. Arabella Tarleton has no interest in romance, but even she can see that Sir Horley’s nuptials are destined to end in a lifetime of misery. Well, not on her watch. And what are friends for, if not abducting you on the night before your wedding in an overdramatic attempt to save you from a terrible mistake?

I knew I would love this book!!
Revisado: 01-01-25
I have listened and relistened to Something Fabulous so many times, and Sir Horley was one of my favorite characters. I was so excited to see he’d gotten his own story!
Arabella Tarleton knows she’s not like other people, not like her best friend or her brother. Belle may enjoy intimacy, but she has never wanted love.
Sir Horley is being forced into marriage by his family. His aunt knows he prefers men, but she is determined to see him live a respectable life. When you know your dear friend is in danger of being married off, what’s the best way to help him? Abduct him and offer to marry him yourself, natch.
Belle and Sir Horley are absolutely hilarious together, but they also have some very emotional moments together. Their marriage is not traditional, as it will likely never be consummated, but they are each other’s best friend and love each other fiercely. They are a beautiful example of relationships and marriage being what you want them to be, not what everyone else thinks they should be.

Brilliantly narrated by Michael Crouch
I did not expect a book about AIs to be so so emotional, but this one really got me. I laughed and cried several times while listening, which is such a testament to Kit’s writing.
This is the story of Eke, a human-like AI owned by a rich but dysfunctional family in Boston. Besides his cleaning duties, Eke is also used as a makeup trial dummy for a daughter and a scapegoat for a son. The family is not ashamed to say in front of Eke how old he’s getting, and how he’s slipping at his duties. But Eke does not expect them to bring home a new AI, Kyp. Kyp is gorgeous, more human-like, and has a bunch of party tricks up his suit sleeves. Eke thinks Kyp can’t stand him, but he soon realizes Kyp knows more about the AI world than he does, and things are not as he always thought. When Eke starts having feelings that he doesn’t consider normal for an AI, Kyp is there to walk him through it, and to help him know he’s not broken, but feeling.
There are many times that Eke completely broke my heart, he’s so much more than an AI and is such a kind and gentle creature. Eke, I’ve got a guest room that you are welcome to stay in with your costumes and flowers and be happy for the rest of your days!!! I dare anyone not to fall in love either him!!

My world flipped upside down when my Dad suddenly remarried. What ten-year-old wants that surprise dropped on him? I wasn't expecting my stepbrother to become my best friend, my everything, and the source of my utter confusion. I didn't realize he was hiding something from me, and I didn't mean to see it. It made me question everything.

Revisado: 12-04-24
Great narration by Oliver Williams.
This is my favorite book of Joelle’s. I love a stepbrother trope and this is a great one!
Garrett and Tyler have always been close as stepbrothers, and everyone thinks it’s something more. They’ve always just been best friends and done everything together, but never anything more. When Tyler catches Garrett in a compromising position, it’s the first time he sees him in this new light. Though both of them know this could be a horrible idea, they can’t stay away from each other. Steamy first times, sweet moments, and experimenting galore ensue, and the boys manage to keep things quiet. Until a jealous hook-up turns nasty, and Tyler and Garrett are forced to decide if this just an experiment or the real thing.

Revisado: 12-03-24
This was a reread for me, and I loved it just as much the second (maybe 3rd?) time. Joel Leslie’s narration is perfect, and I loved this story!
Mark Cooper is not happy. He’s moved to Pennsylvania from Australia, and has discovered everything is different. The slang, the stars, the weather, even the drinking age. He’s starting college and pledging a frat, and he doesn’t think he wants to do either. The next four years look bleak, until he meets Deacon. He’s older, sexy, and doesn’t give in to Mark’s sh!t. As Mark’s freshman year progresses, he learns something about himself: he always pushes. He’s got to be the most defiant, the loudest, the most obnoxious. But maybe Deacon can teach Mark that he doesn’t always have to fight; sometimes he can just give in and let someone else help him.

Excellent narration by Simon Goldhill
I read this series a few years ago and have reread it several times since. I love a historical MM romance, and these are top tier!! I was so excited to see this one out in audio.
This is the story of Captain Iain Sinclair, a military man at the end of his service to the king. Iain isn’t quite sure what he wants to do next, but he knows that he must do one thing: make amends with his childhood best friend, James.
James has loved Iain as long as he can remember. He admired him as a boy, and soon that admiration turns into desire and romance. They’ve had a couple of fumbled dalliances, but Iain has always kept James at arm’s length. After one night together, Iain can’t quite face his feelings, and leaves James cold.
When Iain realizes that James has been the one for him along, James is heartbroken from all the tears of false starts. Can Iain prove that his affection is real this time?
