Historia
Twenty-seven-year-old screenwriter Elle has the chance of a lifetime to write a big-budget movie set in New York City. The only problem? She’s had writer’s block for months, and her screenplay is due at the end of the summer. In a desperate attempt at inspiration, Elle ends up back in the city she swore she would never return to, in an apartment she could never afford (floor-to-ceiling windows, skyline views, and a new coffee shop to haunt included).

Not great
Revisado: 04-11-25
The monotone narrator got very old. Story quite predictable, and so not realistic at all. I probably would not recommend at all.

Historia
Sami Kierce, a young college grad backpacking in Spain with friends, wakes up one morning, covered in blood. There’s a knife in his hand. Beside him, the body of his girlfriend. Anna. Dead. He doesn’t know what happened. His screams drown out his thoughts—and then he runs. Twenty-two years later, Kierce, now a private investigator, is a new father who’s working off his debts by doing low level surveillance jobs and teaching wannabe sleuths at a night school in New York City. One evening, he recognizes a familiar face at the back of the classroom. Anna.

Drama, drama, drama!
Revisado: 04-08-25
A little too much with the narrator. Always breathy. Enunciation a little overdone. Story quite dramatic and pretty far fetched. Not my favorite, but I listened to the end.

Historia
One June day when Mia Jacob can no longer see a way to survive, the power of words saves her. The Scarlet Letter was written almost two hundred years earlier, but it seems to tell the story of Mia’s mother, Ivy, and their life inside the Community—an oppressive cult in western Massachusetts where contact with the outside world is forbidden. But how could this be? How could Nathaniel Hawthorne have so perfectly captured the pain and loss that Mia carries inside her?

My New Favorite Book of All Time!
Revisado: 03-02-24
I share many of my favorite books with my friends. I have had many “favorite” books in my lifetime, and this one has moved to the top of my favorites list. Julia Whelan is also my favorite narrator as well and she knocked it out of the park with this one! When I listen to a book that touches my soul as much as this one did, I buy many copies to give as gifts. I love originally autographed books to share, so will be reaching out to get that rolling. This book brings back so many memories of my childhood. This is an experience I will never forget.
