Main character is a super hero!

The main character is a doctor, weapons expert, cia operator, prepper, super hero. There is no touch of an actual human response for the man. Nuclear war just happened the worlds on fire, I have a wife and two kids across the country that needs me but I’m going to chase down a biker gang that killed a bunch of plane crash victims. Not to mention I got two hours into the book and hit every prepper book cliché. Nazi bikers ravishing the world, packs of dogs hunting people and on and on. And this is less than a day after the bombs drop. It could have been a good book if the author just dialed it back. In books like this you can’t start with big problems like outlaw nazi bikers. You start small. Entitled people on the road you come in contact with. Or sick/wounded people. Then you build to outlaw bikers. If you start with big problems two hours into the book I expect the main character to fight aliens by hour 3. I will be returning this.

Interesting point of view from an outsider.

The author is extremely left leaning it seems. He implies Most the problems in the country come from the right and that all republicans are racist our constitution is rubbish. I enjoyed the perspective and outlook from and outsider with different political views as me. And I can also agree with a lot of his options. The book wasn’t bad. I was just hoping for something a little less bias.

I AM FURIOUS!

I have suffered through bad books with good narrators, great books with bad narrators and never once have I ever left a bad review until today. I found this series about a year ago. It turned into one of my favorites! I get the new audio book as soon as it comes out. Well the narrator change has killed me. I have had to deal with them in the past and made do but this is night and day. This new narrator turn the main character from a strong young confident man to what I can only picture is an old mentally challenged man with a speech impediment. I just lost this series. I’ll have to read it on my own.

She pauses after every sentence. Ruins the flow of the story. I’m going to by the hard copy. I couldn’t finish the book.

Good story

Let me start by saying I could not write better. They way the author got to somethings felt a little off to me. Like how the main character became so important because he asked questions. (I don’t want to give anything away) but I was able to role with it and ended up liking the books. Only real problem I had it is hard for me to describe. “ stepped out into the street. Then turned left down the street. Then went strait up the street. The street was long. It was dark on the street.” How many times did I really need to say the street. This happens a lot in the book. So if you can get by these two things you will enjoy it.

I don’t do this often. I have listened to hundreds of these books. Sometime you get a good story with a bad narrator and it kills the book. Other times the book just isn’t realistic.

This book has it all. Yes it’s your standard “rich” preppers that have millions of everything food guns bullets and on and on. But this is the 1st book I have listened to that the characters had all this excess and for your average prepper it is excess 😜. But they when into the shtf with all of it and it gave background of how it happened. This is a great book and loved the narrator I can’t wait for the next one!

If you are into EMP then this is a great story! The writer definitely knows what she is taking about and character development is fantastic!

I wrote my first two bad reviews ever on the 1st and 2nd book not because of the story but because of the narrator and the editing.

However book three is great. No one single problem with the narration or editing I really like the series!
