Historia
Samantha was badass even before she learned magic. Fending for herself in the cauldron of a planet torn apart by an alien invasion taught Samantha how to kill. Ruthlessly efficient, her abilities have caught the attention of the Shadow Corps. A group comprised of deadly warriors who focus on galactic safety, using any means necessary. Her first mission puts her team up against a space dragon, death reapers, and the ultimate sorcerer. Samantha had better learn to master her alien magic, or be forced to watch her world, and many others, burn.

How many times can you say Space Dragon?
Revisado: 02-06-22
This story would have been better if it had been written by a much better author.
Hands down, this is such a short-sighted, uninspired work. We are supposed to be exploring a galaxy of wonders, and one thing we never truly get is any sense of scope. At no point do you feel that the stakes are high, and there isn't much in the way of character development. Any attempt at world-building doesn't even begin to touch the surface save for Earth only at the beginning, and at no point can you actually empathize with a single character in this story.
You can see almost everything for what it is, the foreshadowing is so poorly executed that you already know what's up ahead in the next books. People keep making easily avoided "mistakes" all throughout the book, just to give the characters something to talk about or to force blatantly obvious outcomes. Crew of the ship knowing the main character's background and talking about those sensitive things while she passes by, all the while knowing that they shouldn't be talking about it at all while she's on board. The setups are so obvious how disgruntled teenage girl will act later when she learns that everyone has been keeping things from her, and it's just painful because how forced it is.
I really could rant on this for a long time, because there is so much that I could go into, like how the alien who can use fire is named Napalm, or how the leader of an all female resistance just happens to get caught by the protagonist making love to a male just by passing through random streets on planet X, and that's a big no-no because her position would be compromised if it gets out because her people are all strictly man-hating Lesbians (not joking, their planet is literally segregated by gender).
Let's talk about this being Lit RPG. With the exception of their special armor "gaining XP" and leveling up and it gaining new stats and abilities, this barely qualifies as that's as close to the genre as it gets. That's the series' gimmick, and it's a joke at best. The characters are brought together and given these armors and tutoring by Space Wizard (who's oh-so tragically the last person of his race) who taught wonder girl protag when she was younger. They are supposed to be some small, elite crack team of space commandos who act independently to fight a shadow war against this hidden enemy, except they aren't being allowed to operate independently by Space Council. It's nonsensical, the politics are very poorly executed, and once again, zero sense of scope.
Space Dragons. Do you want to hear about Space Dragons, because the author cannot shut up about Space Dragons. They aren't actually dragons, and they explain early on about them, but then they just keep calling them Space Dragons. Over and over, and it gets old real quick. When it turns out that the big bad Space Dragon is being controlled by a special device, what does protagonist girl do when she gains control? Let's just kill it and let it's body fall down over the Capital of Space Council's homeworld. From how it's described, I can only assume that this one city is all that this planet has. Same with any other planet. There is never given a sense of scope.
This was not a good book by any stretch of the imagination. It's so lacking in so many areas, and even if you try to count this as being for Young Adults, the writing is just bad. Tess Irondale for her part did the best she could with the material she had to work with, but the story is just not salvageable. My apologies to the author, Justin Sloan, but your work disappointed me at every corner. There are very few pieces that I've read that were worse. Very few.
To end this, I only have 2 words.
Space Dragons.

Harry Dresden, Chicago's only practicing professional wizard, should be happy that business is pretty good for a change. But he also knows that whenever things are going good, the only way left for them to go is bad. Way bad. Recent examples: A duel with the lethal champion of the Red Court, who must kill Harry to end the war between vampires and wizards...Hit men using Harry for target practice...The missing Shroud of Turin - and the possible involvement of Chicago's most feared mob boss.

Historia
Ignis Glace is a war-torn world of fire and ice. Tidally-locked to its tiny red sun, one side of the planet bakes while the other side is forever frozen. Known as Sunside and Nightside, these two wastelands are bordered by a narrow inhabitable region known as Twilight. Humans and mechs battle for control of their world, even while a third player approaches the game: the Skaintz Imperium. Once the aliens strike, no world is ever the same.

Historia
The year is 1908. Seventeen-year-old Rosalind Wallace's blissful stay in England with her best friend, Cecily de Vere, has come to an abrupt end, which is fine with Rosalind. She was getting tired of being high-society Cecily's American "pet". Her industrialist father is unveiling his fabulous new Transatlantic Express, the world's first underwater railway. As a publicity stunt, he has booked her on the maiden voyage - without asking. Rosalind is furious.

A strong start into a larger story.
Revisado: 07-20-16
Alternative history with good intrigue and characters that makes you want to read more. The setting is vividly detailed, and there is so much to take in. One thing that I truly enjoyed was the gradual evolution of the main character as her reality is constantly being altered, and how she reacts to these changes. Overall it was quite enjoyable and I look forward to seeing where the story takes us next.
