Dan Stevens is Top-Tier
Revisado: 04-08-25
Agatha Christie and Dan Stevens are a match made in heaven. Last year I listened to this duo's "Then There was One" and loved it. The story is great, but Stevens makes it extraordinary -- he does not just read the book, he ACTS the book. His narration voice is pleasing and his character voicings are absolutely top-notch. I'd put him up there with Jim Dale, and that's saying a lot. Thanks, Mr. Stevens and Audible for producing this -- I see this one being a work I enjoy every year or two.

Good Performance; Wildly Overrated Book
Revisado: 05-03-24
Love Simon Vance and Paul's narrator was great. Five or six moments of literary greatness. Interesting setting. Just an ok story overall. I can see why a percentage of society loves the concept of spice (I will leave it at that)

Loved it. Genuinely creepy at times. Charming like Goonies. I need to read "It" by King again, but other than Pennywise, I think this one is better. Nailed childhood summer in a small town! Narrator was excellent too

Dr. Grim knows how to pull together related topics, and present them in a cohesive story -- a course. I say "again" because I was so facscinated by his "Queations of Value" about 15 years back. If you like the brain, thinking, philosophy, even AI, check out this title.

Historia
We live in an extraordinary time. Technological advances are happening at a rate faster than our ability to understand them, and in a world that moves faster than we can imagine, we cannot afford to stand still. These advances bring efficiency and abundance - and they are profoundly deflationary. Our economic systems were built for a pre-technology era when labor and capital were inextricably linked - an era that counted on growth and inflation and an era where we made money from inefficiency.

Well written and well performed. King sure knows how to vuild charqcters slowly turn up the plot and creepiness. At first I thought the narrator was too subdued, but realized later that he was leaving dynamic range for th tense parts. Good stuff.

One of the most popular Fortune articles in many years was a cover story called "What It Takes to Be Great." Greatness doesn't come from DNA but from practice and perseverance honed over decades.
