This podcast is a lot of fun!
Revisado: 10-03-23
I have been a fan of the book series since 1997 and I have really enjoyed having an excuse to reread it in order. While I have reread favorite books, I haven't done them all since the list got so big. This is a fun way to do it and the hosts feel like friends now.

Historia
The woman’s body was found in the early morning, on a bench in a New York City playground. She was clean, her hair neatly arranged, her makeup carefully applied. But other things were very wrong—like the tattoo and piercings, clearly new. The clothes, decades out of date. The fatal wound hidden beneath a ribbon around her neck. And the note: Bad Mommy, written in crayon as if by a child.

A good mystery
Revisado: 02-11-22
This is my favorite kind of JD Robb, just a good mystery with kidnapping/murder, no massive conspiracies or world threatening terrorism. A peek into the lives of a few supporting characters and a little time with Eve and Roarke.

More funny guy trip than history lesson
Revisado: 06-21-21
I really enjoyed this audio book. Graham and Sam are both excellent narrators and actors, so I could listen to them talk all day. There is no real plot or storyline to follow - just a series of anecdotes, rambling stories, some Scottish history, some personal history from the two, and a great deal of joking and sarcasm at each other's expense. If you don't mind the scattered structure and you enjoy these actors, you will love this!

Slow and drawn out
Revisado: 01-15-21
This book dragged on too long for me. While the protagonist was likeable enough, I didn't like either of the women too much and all of the rich anglers blended together.

Historia
Everyone thought Jessie Benedict's impending marriage to Sam Hatchard was a great arrangement - everyone, that is, but Jessie herself. Was she the only one who could see that Hatchard, her powerful father's protege, had a scheming ulterior motive in marrying her? He was more than just a chip off the old workaholic's block - he was positively lusting after Jessie's inheritance to build his own business empire!

Has not aged well
Revisado: 10-28-19
I love Jayne Ann Krentz usually, but this one is not her best. The hero bullies the heroine (and pretty much everyone else). Her family, who supposedly love her, are jerks. Meanwhile, we are told the heroine is incredibly smart and determined and strong-willed, but never see it. She is wishy-washy, impulsive and generally puts up with the casual insults and disrespect from everyone. There is a nice HEA, but I'd still skip this one.

Historia
Photographer Jo Ellen Hathaway thought she'd escaped the house called Sanctuary long ago. She'd spent her loneliest years there, after the sudden, unexplained disappearance of her mother. Yet the sprawling inn on an island off the Georgia coast continues to haunt her dreams. And now, even more haunting are the pictures someone is sending her: strange close-ups and candids, culminating in the most shocking portrait of all - a photo of her mother - naked, beautiful, and dead.

Disappointing and dated
Revisado: 04-25-19
Not Nora's best book. It was published in the 90's, but other than the mention of laptops, could be easily 20 years earlier than that. The women are all emotional messes and the men stoic and closed off. The heroine is a chronic smoker and her sister is practically Scarlett O'Hara. Some of the romance is nice, but I got a little tired of the tears, tantrums and neurotic breakdowns every few minutes.

Good story, awful accents
Revisado: 04-17-19
I love Agatha Christie and Miss Marple is always a pleasure. The narrator for this version however is not my favorite. Her American accent for Wally was painfully bad and some of the other male voices were extremely affected as well.

A slow start but a good read
Revisado: 03-21-18
Personally, I could have done without the prologue and epilogue. The story itself was interesting and slowly drew me in. The performance was excellent. I had no trouble distinguishing the different characters and other than a brief dubious Welsh accent, the accents and intonation were excellent.

Not her best, hasn't aged well
Revisado: 01-15-18
I hadn't read this one for decades and thought it would be fun. It hasn't aged real well, however. The male protaginist, Dane, comes off more than a little Neanderthal-ish. The author describes the heroine, Marley, as strong and independent, yet she immediately lets Dane roll right over her in almost every situation. The narrator only exaggerates this issue as he gives Dane a deep gravelly voice and Marley a super high voice, almost like a stereotypical "man pretending to be a woman".
