Love this author! She truly understands fantasy and world building as good as anyone I’ve read. I wish I would have re-read theme first two books because it’s been awhile and was a little lost in the beginning. There isn’t any kind of recap at all it picks right and goes forward. The final quarter of this book turns the dial all the way up and gets crazy exciting. So glad I got to enjoy this trilogy!

It’s been a long time since a novel captivated me from beginning to end. This story is everything you could ask for in a Dracula story. Gothic, brutal, and atmospheric. They absolutely nailed it! The narration is top notch as well. If you are a fan of Dracula or vampires in general, then you cannot go wrong with this story. Highly recommend.

No place like Hollywood...

If there's one thing Tarantino is, it's that he's a fantastic story teller. Here he gives us Once upon a time... in Hollywood but with this novel you get all the little intricate and intimate details that you really can't get in film. I enjoyed every second of this novelization. Jennifer Jason Leigh does a pretty good job of bringing the characters to life. If you enjoyed the film I recommend getting this book as again it touches on ideas and thought processes of the characters that you can't get in the movie. If you didn't enjoy the film then this book may not be for you because I don't think it will do anything to change your mind. I kind of see this novel as a companion piece to the movie that helps the audience dive a little deeper with the characters.

Ellroy's better days are behind him. His stories have always been brutal and ugly, but at least he could grip and compel you in the actual tale he was telling
Now, he just mindlessly and incoherently rambles on and on. I truly believe that all he does now is vicariously live out his own racist, violent, and sexual perverse fantasies through his, "stories". I think I'm done with this guy.

Great Adaption of the film, with a few extra scenes not in the film to flesh it out just a little bit more. The narrator is absolutely perfect! If you enjoyed the film like I did then you will definitely enjoy this novel.

Fascinating story!

An absolutely compelling story that is tremendously fascinating. It's almost hard to believe that all this ACTUALLY happened. The evidence that Steve Hodel provides definitely has me convinced that George Hodel was the Black Dahlia avenger. If you are fascinating by Elisabeth Short's murder then this book is a MUST read. Only bad thing is the narrator is a little too dry in my opinion. He reads with no energy, and reminds me of the most boring high school teacher you might have had. However, the content is very interesting and kept me going all the way through.

Great Story!

Great story, of Fauna Hotel and what she went through growing up in racially divided times being of mixed race. The TV series, "I am the night", is based of this book. However, the show is completely different than the story told here, but that's actually a good thing. I recommend both the TV show and this novel.
