Having no real experience with penny stocks or fundamental analysis, the audiobook taught me a lot. I will listen again while having the physical book with me so i can see charts and make notes.

There is a lot very helpful info for a beginner. Don't expect to breeze through it and start to make big bucks immediately. As is said in the book, a successful trader needs to know the fundamentals and not just hope to "hit it big" with exaggerated luck. That's what all the hype we hear or read really is. I don't plan to be a financial wizard, so this book is just right for me now. Later I may get into other types of trading.

This book is for anyone who wants a thorough, yet brief, step-by step guide to using technical analysis for any type of stock, not just penny stocks.

As to complaints about the narrator reading so slowly, I think that is helpful if you need to go slowly and fully understand what is being taught so you can use the info successfully and not just try your luck at it. (I just turned speed up to 1.3 or 1.4.)

I don't know about you, but I've never had the good luck to get good luck.

First let me say that I appreciate the introductory nature of this and the author's other basic crypto info books. Being a new techno tool, cryptocurrency has a lot to offer but also has a lot of new terminology. However, I very nearly condemned this and the author's other books as "trash," for the reasons below. I am glad I didn't, and I think many people will find this book to be very helpful.

What follows below is not a rant but is intended as merely info and feedback for the author, in hopes that he will not lose other sales due to unintended consequences.

So to the author, I am truly insulted by the description of this and other books as being so easy that "even your grandma" or "grandparents" can understand it.

I thought we had progrssed far beyond this age-ist and sexist language years ago!

FYI, I am a grandma now and was 20 years ago when I worked in software development. My team and I created the very software upon which almost all base code of software that you and many others use today was written.

Further, my mother, at the age of 80, retired from the US Patents and Trademarks Office Special Research Dept. in Washington, D.C. There she taught advanced and complex specialized computer research methods. She, too, was a grandmother and even a great-mother!

I hope this feedback is helpful. Thank you for your hard work on this and your other books.

Disturbingly Surprised

First off, I have to tell you that after DT won the 2016 Presidential election, I said "this is the end of the world as we know it." Obviously I was wrong. Waaay wrong! So if you're willingly open-minded, I think you will be disturbingly surprised as I am by reading this book.

Here are just a few of my surprises:
I learned quite a lot of disturbing and validated information about how much spiteful collusion occurred before, during, and after DT was elected President. The collusion between Dem Party leaders, the demeaning "reporting" by formerly respected media, NYTimes, CNN, and others, makes all unproven allegations against DT pale in comparison. I'm sickened by it all—and I grew up in a politically active Dem family! If I hadn't already left the Dem P several yrs ago (NOT to the Rep P), I would without hesitation do so now.

Along with the atrocities mentioned above, I learned how much DT's commitment to the working class and making their lives easier guided his governing. The economic growth, the raise in wages, the international trade policies he improved or created so US companies would come back to US and thus create more jobs. Much more is detailed in the book.

I never knew any of this, apparently thanks to media that barely reported the positive things DT did. The media related just the negative, and/or created false reports to make their negatively slanted opinions mascarade as integrity and truth.

When listening to this book, I didn't want to stop. I had to discipline myself and limit my reading to a few hours a day. Not that this is a cliff-hanger. We all know how it ends. Or do we?

BTW, another reviewer thought the reading was too slow. I agree and did as the other reader suggested. If you increase the narrator speed by 1/3 it flows much more smoothly.

Information in this book is very basic and without depth, as if written for children/young adults. The sentences and choices of wording also lead me to conclude that the intended audience is not adults. After searching Audible for more age-appropriate books, I found that there are many in-depth and well-written books on Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), many of which are authored by mental health researchers and professionals. Many of these books are introductory and focus on the basics of BPD. I will choose other books, since unfortunately this one does not have what I want.

That being said, even if the content of the book met my expectations, I could not get through more than 20 minutes of it due to the unbelievably bad narration. The narrator's style of reading, which includes odd inflections, erratic cadence, and robotic delivery, is unbearable. Please be sure to listen to the sample.

What disappointed you about Vienna & Chicago, Friends or Foes??

Nothing about the content of the book itself disappointed me, rather, it was the narration that could have been better. While Todd Gaddy's voice is pleasant and has a lot of vitality, he rushes through so quickly that he doesn't fully pronounce all of his words. At times, this is difficult to understand, and there were several occasions in which I needed to go back to hear something again. If one is not a native English speaker, one might have difficulty following the narration. This is certainly not a major flaw, and I would listen to other books narrated by Todd Gaddy since I now know what to expect.

Any additional comments?

I learned quite a lot from this book, and it answered the questions I had regarding the differences between the two schools of thought. Mark Skousen knows the subject extremely well and objectively shows topics in depth from each point of view.

I wouldn't recommend this as an introductory book to Laissez-faire economics; it is an intermediate-level book. Having a familiarity with subject-specific vocabulary is essential to understanding both the material and the narration.

Needs better narration

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Get a better narrator. This one put me to sleep and makes an otherwise okay book sound very boring. His intonation is the same for almost every sentence, making it sound monotonous. A more vibrant style of narration and character voices would bring it to life.

How could the performance have been better?

Davina Porter or Penelope Keith would be better narrators.

Any additional comments?

After listening to all of the Agatha Raisin series, I have a hard time with Hamish MacBeth and the plodding pace. Partly, as mentioned above, it's due to this narrator, but partly it's the style of this series. I will try another one with Davina Porter as narrator and see how I like it.

How could the performance have been better?

The reading of this is exceptionally bad. It sounds like the speed has been slowed down, as if an old tape player were dying. There are times when I thought it was going to stop altogether.

The sounds of Hitler's speeches, marches, and music in the background are quite distracting, and they end very abruptly.

There are quotes read from Hitler's writings that are in very different, multiple, voices, which gives it an even more disjointed feeling.

This is not a very professional rendition. I have heard samples of John Smith's reading of another biography of Hitler, and it is much different, much better. I'm not sure what has happened to make this such a bad recording.

Any additional comments?

This book should be titled "Cliff Notes on Hitler for 8th Graders," since that it how it reads. The content is extremely superficial. It is quite disjointed in spots, with one topic abruptly ending and the next beginning without any literary segue. The reading, as mentioned above, adds to this feeling.

You would be better off reading "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" by William L. Shirer to get a very complete picture of Hitler and how he came to be in power.
