Historia
This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.

such a great story
Revisado: 07-28-24
I read this story in the 90s and bought it soon after becoming an Audible member. I have to go back and listen again about every other year, as I do with many of Kings' works. The Stand takes me about 2 weeks to listen and I'm always sad when it's over.

Historia
It’s been a decade since Trumanell Branson disappeared, leaving only a bloody handprint behind. Her pretty face still hangs like a watchful queen on the posters on the walls of the town’s Baptist church, the police station, and in the high school. They all promise the same thing: We will find you. Meanwhile, Tru's brother, Wyatt, lives as a pariah in the desolation of the old family house, cleared of wrongdoing by the police but tried and sentenced in the court of public opinion and in a new documentary about the crime.

I didn't get it
Revisado: 03-13-24
Is it strange that i chose some books by who narrates it? I love Xe Sands, and her voice is the best thing about this book. I felt the story was rambling and pointless. Maybe it was just too deep for me.

well I didn't hate it
Revisado: 06-09-23
I can't say I loved this story. I honestly only bought it because of the narrator, Xe Sands. It was very Stephen King-esque story, and i love that man too. I think would recommend.

When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

can't do it
Revisado: 08-09-22
the narrator has a nice voice but the volume seems to be an issue. you have to turn it up because her voice gets so soft, and then your ears get blown out at the start of the next chapter or conversation.
plus, I'm not liking the story. I can do without extremely detailed sexual child abuse. and I don't really care how it ends.
