Historia
The causes of Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder range from severe neglect to monstrous abuse. Many survivors grew up in houses that were not homes-in families that were as loveless as orphanages and sometimes as dangerous. If you felt unwanted, unliked, rejected, hated, and/or despised for a lengthy portion of your childhood, trauma may be deeply engrained in your mind, soul, and body. This book is a practical guide to recovering from lingering childhood trauma. It is copiously illustrated with examples of the author's and his clients' journeys of recovering.

Fantastic information
Revisado: 01-07-24
This book is so profound. I believe most people in the world would benefit from considering the effects of C-PTSD. It goes back to the foundation of how we grew up—how our early years have a long term impact on our life.

Historia
Sleep is one of the most important but least understood aspects of our life, wellness, and longevity. Until very recently, science had no answer to the question of why we sleep, or what good it served, or why we suffer such devastating health consequences when we don't sleep. Compared to the other basic drives in life - eating, drinking, and reproducing - the purpose of sleep remained elusive.

Historia
Grammar! For many of us, the word triggers memories of finger-wagging schoolteachers, and of wrestling with the ambiguous and complicated rules of using formal language. But what is grammar? In fact, it's the integral basis of how we speak and write. As such, a refined awareness of grammar opens a world of possibilities for both your pleasure in the English language and your skill in using it, in both speech and the written word.

Informative and entertaining
Revisado: 03-23-23
I’m a big fan of The Great Courses, and this one was no exception. I loved the information in these lectures and enormously enjoyed the delivery.
If you do a lot of writing or reading (and grammar is frequently on your mind for one reason or another), then this is a must listen for you.

Revisado: 12-26-22
I wasn’t enthralled in the beginning. I found it somewhat dry. A little over halfway, it got really intriguing and never let up. It’s a very well thought out time travel novel. You just don’t know it until later in the book.

Historia
Can literature change our real world society? At its foundation, utopian and dystopian fiction asks a few seemingly simple questions aimed at doing just that. Who are we as a society? Who do we want to be? Who are we afraid we might become? When these questions are framed in the speculative versions of Heaven and Hell on earth, you won't find easy answers, but you will find tremendously insightful and often entertaining perspectives.

Historia
The Story Grid is a tool developed by editor Shawn Coyne to analyze stories and provide helpful editorial comments. It's like a CT Scan that takes a photo of the global story and tells the editor or writer what is working, what is not, and what must be done to make what works better and fix what's not. The Story Grid breaks down the component parts of stories to identify the problems. And finding the problems in a story is almost as difficult as the writing of the story itself (maybe even more difficult).

Loved all of it. Will definitely be going over it again and again as a tool and reference. The audio was obviously recorded over a few times (intermediate change in voice/audio quality, and saying the same thing twice). It was a little distracting at times. But I would still highly recommend this title.

Lots of blood and gore
Revisado: 09-17-22
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book. It’s not a typical book for me. I was mildly intrigued, but most of the time I was wondering what the point of the story was. I’m still wondering. Overall though, it was interesting. Can’t say that I’d recommend to anyone I know, but I am glad I listened to it for one scene in particular. However, the scene is about 3/4 of the way in. So, you have to be patient.
