I have to believe in hope. I have to believe in my love for Death, for a future beyond this pain and drama. But why does hope feel like such a foolish dream at this point?

a series that should have been one book
Revisado: 04-15-25
like another reviewer said, these books were dragged out way too long and there was lots of stuff that could have been cut out of them. I really enjoyed the characters and the overall story, it would have just been a little better I think as one book or at most two. Glad to finally get to the resolution, but if you're like me and have to finish a story, maybe don't start this one unless it is included with your audible membership. I will say the resolution was very satisfying. I just wish it had been more concise.

Being traded to the Seattle Vipers has left me with mixed feelings. On the one hand, they’re my team, the team I’ve loved and supported since I was a kid, but on the other hand, he’s here. Him. Ant Decker. Infamous NHL bad boy. Right wing to my left. A man who’s made it his sole purpose in life to be better than me.

I really need to stop reading the 'popular' queer romance. There were some major issues with this book, from the misogyny, ideas around virginity, lack of plot or character development, etc ... no shade if you enjoyed, but I can't get into a book with no depth and just porn.
I also have a pet peve with books labeled enemies to lovers that 1) aren't slow burn and 2) aren't enemies. sure they didn't like each other, but that's not enemies 😒

cute fairytale
Revisado: 03-07-25
I can definitely see where the author was going, and the narrators did a good job. I just felt like there were not really any stakes and the conflict was very meh. pretty much nothing happened this whole book, but I finished listening to it because the narrators made it enjoyable.

I've enjoyed every one of these books! Joel Leslie is one of my favorite narrators and Von Cassidy is quickly becoming one of my favorite mm The books are pretty light-hearted, and I love the plot as well. her characters are fleshed out, and her writing is fun.

There’s a lot I’ve never told my best friend. The fact that I love him. That I miss him every day he’s gone. That, sometimes, I ache for him with a ferocity that leaves me breathless. Lucky Buchanan tore into my life as a boy, wild and daring, my opposite in every way. He drew me in, stole my heart without trying. He hears me, even though I rarely speak a word. But I always knew this place wouldn’t be enough for my free-spirited friend. I knew he wasn’t mine to keep.

cute but boring
Revisado: 01-18-25
this story was really predictable, but nice if you are looking for a sweet and low steaks romance. I enjoyed the prose, but I definitely found myself being bored and I had to listen to it to 2x speed to get through it.
I was a little bit confused because the people who recommended this book to me all said it was pretty high angst and emotional. I found it to be the exact opposite of that, there were definitely some moving parts to it, but the conflict was extremely low angst, and like I said it was pretty predictable.
The narrators did a good job, although I still stand by that, I think books should be read by one narrator or a full cast, the duet model just doesn't really work for me.

wonderful series!
Revisado: 01-17-25
I really enjoyed this entire series, and this was a nice end. I hope the author explores this world a little more too because I feel like there is lots of potential. highly recommend if you are looking for a great plot and like vampire stories. The concept of the vampires in this world is really great and I just loved everything about it. The narrator is also wonderful and I liked getting glimpses of characters from past stories.
this is a spoiler, but I really enjoyed getting to know Natalie more and feeling more complex emotions about that character.

Look, when I met the sexy, witty Brit on the streets of London last night, I had no idea who he was. He was just that hot guy I wanted to have a drink with, so I asked him out for my first evening in town. One thing almost led to another. After a midnight kiss, we made plans for a whole lot more the next day. But when I unlock the door to my rental in the morning, the English hottie is lounging on the couch like he lives here too. Great. For the next year, I’ll be sharing a tiny flat with the sexiest guy I’ve ever known.

I hate Valentine Tye. I’ve hated him since we were ten years old. I hate everything he is, everything he stands for. Even the mention of his name gets my back up. And when I see him? My blood boils. My jaw clenches and my hands curl into fists. That’s how much I hate him. I want to cause him pain. I want to hold him down and actually hurt him. And if that’s not bad enough, that’s exactly what he wants me to do to him.

very okay
Revisado: 01-10-24
I think this had a lot of potential, but the relationship is very co-dependent and have me a lot of icky feelings. And the last where (spoilers) one of the main characters slips into a depression so deep he didn't eat or drink and had to be hospitalized was just... way unbelievable. I've been heartbroken and devastated, but it was so unbelievable unless he had some severe underlying mental illness, which the book never addresses. I normally leave lots of leeway for romance novels, this one just missed the mark.
