Historia
When a woman unexpectedly loses her lifelong best friend and mentor, she finds herself burdened with the unwanted dog he has left behind. Her own battle against grief is intensified by the mute suffering of the dog, a huge Great Dane traumatized by the inexplicable disappearance of its master, and by the threat of eviction: Dogs are prohibited in her apartment building. While others worry that grief has made her a victim of magical thinking, the woman refuses to be separated from the dog except for brief periods of time.

Shallow story of writing glorification
Revisado: 02-23-25
Another writer explaining why their feelings are so much deeper than those of others just because they can quote other authors to give color to their emotions.

that GS-15s were that important in the government.
An amazingly distorted view of government with ZERO evidence justifying the urgency assigned to the topic of UAPs. It is not a book of science, nor a book of government; it is a book of grievances, sprinkled with copious amounts of self-aggrandizing.

Historia
The locals in the southern Italian town where he lives call him Signor Farfalla - Mr. Butterfly - for he is a discreet gentleman who paints rare butterflies. His life is inconspicuous: mornings are spent brushing at a canvas, afternoons idling in the cafés, and evenings talking with his friend, the town priest, over a glass of brandy. Yet there are other sides to this gentleman’s life.... Part thriller, part character study, part drama of deceit and self-betrayal, The American shows Martin Booth at the very height of his powers.

Beautiful prose
Revisado: 08-08-24
I have seen the movie many times, but the story in the book has so many more layers that it makes the movie seem inadequate. The description of objects like butterflies, dishes, and guns create a more comprehensive depiction than any movie image can provide. This is a book I will read again.

A Message to Garcia is Hubbard's most famous work. In it, he argues that the greatest hero is the man who simply does his job, completing the task no matter what the obstacles. Within Hubbard's lifetime, the Message was reprinted more than any book besides the Bible.

Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

Sad
Revisado: 10-25-04
There is good humor, bad humor, and material that is neither; George Carlin book falls in the later. As I listen, I kept on wondering when it was going to get funny, then I wonder how this material had made it to print, finally, I despaired.
With so many talented individuals seeking a chance to show their work, it is a shame that this mediocre work has found its way into the bookstores.
