Historia
There are three things I hate: Bratwurst in any form, my neighbors boinking like farm animals at 3 AM, and Chase Jett. Mostly I hate Chase Jett. It's been 10 years since he took my virginity - I'd make a bratwurst joke, but the unfortunate truth is that it would have to be a brat-best joke, and yes, it kills me to admit that - and now he's not only a billionaire, he's also my new boss.

Really cannot understand the fantastic reviews
Revisado: 10-04-19
This book is stupid. That's the only word that I can come up with. I am pretty open-minded about it all, but there is so much sex between two people who supposedly hate one another. And sex in public places. And her behavior at work. I just shake my head at the ridiculousness of it all. I like books to at least be in the realm of possibilities, and this one seems so out in left field. Just could not like it.

Eight years ago, I gave Grayson Price a piece of my heart. To him, I was the strange girl whose mom had just abandoned her. To me, he was a savior, an anchor, someone who stood beside me on that beach. The next time I saw him, I was 20, and he was 36. He didn't remember me. And when he flirted...I didn't tell him. By the time he found out, it was too late. We tried to deny our desire, but our attraction was too enticing.

Not that great
Revisado: 10-04-19
I really really really did not like the female lead. She acted more like my 14 year old than a 21 year old. It was hard to see why a man 15 years older than her would WANT to be with her. He went on and on about her beauty, but she acted like a spoiled child. Most of her abandonment issues were unwarranted. And she did not have to act like a whiny baby about it! I mean, she legit started freaking out because her dad and step mom had to leave a night out early while she was away from the table. They asked someone to bring her home. They did not "leave her" in the sense that she acted like they did. It was crazy town.

Historia
It was a hot summer day when I met him on the construction site next to my parents' house. Under the sweat and dirt, Manning Sutter was as handsome as the sun was bright. He was older, darker, experienced. I wore a smiley-face t-shirt and had never even been kissed. I was too young, he said. I would wait. But I'd learn that no matter what you achieve in life, it means nothing if you suffer the heartbreak that comes with falling for someone you can never have. Because even though I saw Manning first, that didn't matter. My older sister saw him next.

If you manage to make it through this book...
Revisado: 09-13-19
If you manage to make it through this book, please do not bother with the next. I wanted to like these books. Mainly because I like the narrators (sad, I know). This book was "okay" - not great by any means. But good enough to have me purchase the second book. I got about a third of the way through the second and returned it. I did not like where it was going and I went and read some spoilers and REALLY did not like where it would go. There is nothing redeeming about these characters. And if you think Lake is young and naive in this book, then just wait. She honestly gets worse. If I could go back I would not have even started this series!

Historia
I dig. It's what I do. I'll literally use a shovel to answer a question. Some answers, though, have been buried too deep for too long. But I'll find those, too. And I know where to dig - the Blackwood Estate on the edge of the Mississippi Delta. Garrett Blackwood is the only thing standing between me and the truth. A broken man - one with desires that dance in the darkest part of my soul - he's either my savior or my enemy. I'll dig until I find all his secrets. Then I'll run so he never finds mine. The only problem? He likes it when I run.

Really do not understand all the great reviews
Revisado: 03-26-19
First the narrator: she sounds so wimpy and scared (voice cracking and what not) - and there is no male narrator. Now for the story. There barely is a story. You have a very foolish female lead, who continues to do stupid stupid stuff, believes the wrong people with no clear reason as to why she believes them over others, and who is untruthful herself but thinks others should be completely truthful with her. She is an idiot. She is one of those characters from horror movies that do ALL the wrong things while being chased by the killer. There is build up to the romance and you do not even feel like there is a reason for the two characters to be together except for the fact that they are in the same place at the same time. This was a let down book.

Here’s the thing: I’m not a bad guy. Lying to Mia wasn’t part of the plan. Finding success as a romance author using a female pen name wasn’t part of the plan, either. But sometimes, life takes unexpected turns. Like realizing the woman you’re falling for is your alter ego’s online best friend.

I guess I am in the minority . .
Revisado: 02-14-19
I did not really care for this book nor the narrators (especially the male narrator). I will start with the story. Ok, so they meet, click, and then one of them realizes that they know each other online under different names. I guess the problem I have with this whole concept is that Mia felt like Lexi was her BFF and told her all kinds of things. But in this day and age, shouldn't we all be a little more careful about what we tell total strangers online. I mean, I get that she thought she was talking to a woman and the author of her favorite books; but come on.... can you ever be totally sure who you are talking to? I mean, for all she knew, she had been corresponding with the person who answered the authors e-mail for her, etc. Assuming that you KNOW exactly who you are communicating with online is just STUPID. And then she gets all huff and self-righteous because he did not tell her - even though #1 - he did try, but got interrupted, #2 - once he knew who she was, he had kept their convos minimal, and #3 - he never sought her out. In fact, it seemed from the story that Lexi was never the one who initiated the convos with Mia - I always felt like Mia was pushing a friendship with Lexi just cause she liked the idea that she was "such close friends" with her favorite author.
Now for the male narrator - his voice got on my nerves, especially when he was doing the female voice. And lets not even talk about him doing the female voice during sex scenes. He sounded like he was trying to emulate a porn star. And he spoke so fast - as if he wanted us to feel how frenzied it was - but it just came across as weird.

The Bird children have an idyllic childhood: a picture-book cottage in a country village, a warm, cosy kitchen filled with love and laughter, sun-drenched afternoons in a rambling garden. But one Easter weekend a tragedy strikes the Bird family that is so devastating it tears them apart. Many years later something will call them home, back to the house they grew up in - and to what really happened that Easter weekend all those years ago.

DULL
Revisado: 08-20-18
I guess I just don't understand all the people saying this book was fantastic. It was pretty dull, as far as I was concerned. I listened to all 13 HOURS of it - WAITING for SOMETHING to happen. Yes, there are developments throughout the story, but all in all this book just went on and on about nothing really. Do not waste your money!

I, Cassandra Straight, have loved Reed Shamrock to distraction since I was a teenager. I even watched him fall in love with someone else and almost get married. A year ago, when he walked into his house and found his fiancée's face in his best friend's crotch, his life changed forever and it hasn't been the same since. On his first night out since the horrible incident, we ran into the ex-skank. Seeing the devastation in his eyes, I made a promise that I would help him get over her.

Just Terrible!
Revisado: 03-20-17
This book is awful. The narrator should never be allowed to do a male voice. She makes him sound so so stupid. I think she was trying to do a southern accent while also doing a male voice and it just came out all wrong.
But the narrator was not all that was wrong. This book is just poorly written. Without giving too much away, it did not make much sense to me that "Sass" wanted this guy her whole life, then when she got him, she was pushing him away. It was like the author was looking for problems where there were not any and not going after what could have been real issues for the couple to deal with. The whole book seemed rushed and lacked content. Please please save your money and buy something else. This is just a waste of time.

This EASILY could have been one book!
Revisado: 09-29-16
This book is the first of 3. It easily could have been one book. Take out some of the sex and you have plenty of time to fit the story in. That being said, I am being very liberal with the use of the word "story." The 2 main characters fall "in love" in record time based on nothing more than their sexual chemistry. They honestly know nothing about one another. There is too much sex and not nearly enough character development. And both Jade and Talon are completely annoying. it makes you not care if they are able to work things out or not. Please do not waste your money.

Not worth it
Revisado: 06-29-16
I have no idea why this book would get good reviews. It is terrible. None of the characters give you any reason to care what happens to them. The female character is a complete idiot. The first 7/8 of the book is nothing but sex with no story development at all. You only find out the "why" at the very last second, so it seemed rushed. The only reason it gets 2 overall stars is because of the narrators.

I do not care how realistic it is . . .
Revisado: 05-13-16
This book may be realistic, but it that is not its biggest flaw. In my opinion, it is WAY too long. This book covers the time period of a few weeks, but takes forever. I realize we have to go back in time to learn certain things that feed into why the characters do the things they do. But it was just too drawn out. And not to mention how terrible the main character, Sadie, is. Selfish does not even begin to describe it. I realize her marriage was "perfect" and then all of a sudden it wasn't. But it had only been 2 months of non-perfection. 2 months out of 7 years and she turns her back on the whole thing? What kind of sense does that make. And all her thoughts of how "if I am selfish, its only because Nate made me this way!" That, in and of itself is a selfish statement. Not wanting to take any responsibility for anything. A person who is proud of the fact that they never feel guilt. I honestly cannot understand why EITHER of these men wanted her.
