Historia
Hailed as a bold foray into new literary territory, Kawakami’s novel is told in the voice of a 14-year-old student subjected to relentless torment for having a lazy eye. Instead of resisting, the boy chooses to suffer in complete resignation. The only person who understands what he is going through is a female classmate who suffers similar treatment at the hands of her tormenters.

A cruel story, not sure why it’s named Heaven.
Revisado: 07-26-23
Don’t get me wrong, the author is obviously very skilled at painting a scene/invoking emotion. However, it was basically gruesome kid on kid assault at every turn. Not to mention the friendship formed between the two main characters seemed toxic by the end. We never find out what heaven was. Not sure why it’s the books title. There were loose ends and what felt like no resolve or justice. I would give this author another try, but this book was just sad and disappointing.

Historia
"Most people think of love as a feeling," says David Richo, "but love is not so much a feeling as a way of being present." In this audiobook, Richo offers a fresh perspective on love and relationships - one that focuses not on finding an ideal mate, but on becoming a more loving and realistic person. Drawing on the Buddhist concept of mindfulness, How to Be an Adult in Relationships explores five hallmarks of mindful loving and how they play a key role in our relationships throughout life.

You may be thinking you don’t need this. Maybe not, but you’ll be better off if you give it a listen. Great perspectives, understanding and guidance throughout.

I’m so grateful for this book. It’s given me so much to think about, that I maybe wouldn’t have known to think about without direction.

Robin Wall Kimmerer is an absolute treasure!
Revisado: 02-09-22
This was so so good! I look forward to a time where I can listen again. Robin Wall Kimmerer is an absolute treasure and has such a beautiful and resonate way with words. She is generous with knowledge, providing nourishment for the mind and a balm for the spirit. Not only did I learn a plethora of new and poetic things about mosses, I was inspired to hit pause throughout to look up illustrations and photos of the mosses in nature/under the microscope. If you're even slightly curious about mosses or their relationships -I highly recommend.
