I couldn't love this more
Revisado: 04-24-24
I have always admired George H. W. Bush, primarily (but not solely) for his unwavering class. I thought I knew everything about his exceptional kindness, but this book taught me so much more about this truly fine man. Thank you, Jean Becker, for sharing these inspirational and moving memories. I could listen to them forever.

One of Andy Cohen’s most momentous years starts off with a hangover the morning after an epic New Year’s Eve broadcast. But Andy doesn’t have time to dwell on the drama, as his role as media mogul is now matched with the responsibilities, joys, and growing pains of parenthood. This fast-paced, mile-a-minute look behind the scenes of living the so-called glamorous life in Manhattan now takes firm aim at life at home.

Not at all as advertised
Revisado: 05-29-23
I guess I assumed that with the word "daddy" being in the title, the book would primarily be about the author's children, but I should have known better, considering Andy Cohen never misses an opportunity to make things all about himself. I do not care to know who he does and does not have sex with, nor do I appreciate the foul language he uses from time to time. I have seen the Instagram videos he posts of little Ben who never stops crying. Now I completely understand why. As for his claim in the subtitle that this was the year he grew up, that year will never come. He writes, acts, talks, and parents like he's about eleven years old.

I read the print version years ago and I loved it. The audio version is even better, hard as that is to imagine. Her honesty and sincerity come through so clearly. I cannot recommend this highly enough. I wish there were an Audible version of her first autobiography, "Knock Wood", which was equally enjoyable.

Oh, that dreadful music!
Revisado: 02-26-23
This was my favorite pre-teen book, so I couldn't wait to listen to it and bring back those happy memories. The story certainly stood the test of time, but the addition of music was ridiculous and almost caused me to stop listening. It was needless and so loud that the narrator could hardly be heard. The narration began at such a high speed that it was not at all enjoyable to hear. Thankfully, the narrator slowed down after a bit. I'm so sorry that the production itself left something to be desired, but the book will always hold a very, very special place in my heart. I wish Audible would make "Belles on Their Toes" available (minus the music and with different narration.)

I enjoy the Scott brothers, but...
Revisado: 10-30-22
...they read their story so unbelievably fast that I simply could not keep up with it. This is really a shame because I admire their many and varied talents, but I felt like a nervous wreck listening to it. Someone should have coached them on this long before the audio was released. For me, it was a total waste of time and money.

The worst
Revisado: 10-01-22
Kelly Ripa's narration is annoying, to say the least, and making it even worse is her obvious love affair with herself. I've just started the first chapter, but not wanting to further nauseate myself, I will listen to no more.

Mixed feelings
Revisado: 08-24-22
I don't wish losing a job on anyone, including the author, and I think it's 100% wrong that a White House usher can be fired without just and fully proven cause. However, throughout the book, the author made himself appear to be a very close friend of the Bushes instead of simply a government employee. He should have known better.
As is true of all jobs, people need to be aware of and adhere to boundaries, both documented and unspoken. I have no doubt that the author was targeted by Hillary Clinton, but I also strongly believe that given his incredibly bold confidence and enormous ego, he almost dared her to challenge him.
The pages of this book clearly reflect a combination of never-ending pats on the back and in the end, victimization. It was obviously written as retribution and justification. I understand why it had to be self-published. I doubt a publisher would think there's a profitable audience for that.
I have always enjoyed White House non-fiction. This book was the exception.

Loved it
Revisado: 10-24-21
It was such a refreshing change to hear positive memories from child actors in Hollywood. I especially appreciate the respect both Ron and Clint felt (and still feel) towards their parents. I do wish there had been more reminiscences of the Andy Griffith Show. As another reviewer rightly noted, there was a huge and annoying discrepancy between the volume of the boys' voices which could and should have been easily corrected. Also, I could have done without Bryce Howard reading the foreword which seemed somewhat self-serving. Other than that, I truly enjoyed this book.
